Quick search found this, but there are several variations available. http://workshop.search-autoparts.com/_Removal-of-Ford-54-Broken-Spark-Plugs/blog/432787/31710.html
Jon, What does the switch say on the dash? Do you have a 2WD setting? Mine has 4 settings:
2WD
A4WD
4 High
4 Low
When in the A4WD setting, the system automatically engages the 4WD system if it senses wheel slipage. Perhaps your bad bearing is causing the ABS sensor to show wheel slipage?
So the upper part of the plug came out, but the bottom is still in the head correct? If so, its Somewhat common on the 3V 5.4. Ford has a tool to extract them and it may be available at a local parts store. The original OEM plugs were a 2 piece design. Replacement plugs are one piece...
Believe it or not, the guy at the ford dealership suggested the Lucas tretment, so I tried it and it didnt make a difference, in fact, at startup on a cold day it is worse.. After gently moving the wheel back and forth a few times it goes back to the normal loud moaning. I think it will make it...
I have a 2nd Gen, BUT, if I were to guess, I'd say some of the Freon/oil may have been sucked into the intake via the normal air inlet.. It may have gummed up the MAF sensor. Might try cleaning it first.
Honestly, I havent done one on an expedition.. Had to replace the Defrost door on an 01 Explorer Sport Trac, and it took 10+ hours to replace the entire plenum assy. It was a big job, not impossible, but very time consuming. There were even nuts behind the engine that were an F'in PITA to get...
Hey all.. Crutchfield has a Sony 7" touch screen NAV unit, in dash, for $599 with free install kits. I have always liked the factory units, but if I am going with aftermarket, I guess I better go with Sony. (I work for Sony) That price is much cheaper than my employee cost!! WOW.. Has decent...
Wow, GREAT responses everyone. and I see a few from KC area here too! Awesome! Local get togethers even with a few members here can help promote the site and the vehicle! (I am all about swapping ideas and stories too!)
Just curious, is there any interest in a local or national meet? I previously had an explorer sport trac and was on a forum where we had a national meet in Louisville KY (Where they are made) They actually had a catered dinner and toured the factory.
Would there be any interest in having...
Replacing the fuel pump may solve your rough idle also.. If pressure is low, the injectors will not shoot as fine a mist and can cause rough idle. Been there done that, and that was my issue on our Escort at the time. Fuel economy and throttle response improved after pump replacement too...
Check on RockAuto.. I have purchased many parts from them. If you need to purchase locally, (in a hurry for it) look at purchasing it from Advance Auto online, then pick up in the store. I have saved 20-40% with their specials.
I bought the Ford extended warranty on my wife's Lincoln Zephyr. I shopped around, and printed off the quotes that were E-mailed to me, then took that to my local dealer and they matched the best one I had. I can tell you that I trust the Ford one, but cant comment on others. Good Luck
Hi All, what would be involved with replacing the factory 6 disc in dash unit with an 05 Factory NAV unit? I know I would have to install the NAV antenna, (not sure where it mounts however) but what else would I need?
Any advice is appreciated.
Dave
