On the second gen, '03 and '04 racks are the same as
'97-'02 1rst gen.
The well nut holes are the same spacing to accept either
rack on 2nd gen. I put the old channel type from my '97 in
exchange for my '05 plastic one. I'm opposite of metaldrgn in that
I feel that the older rack has a...
Bigger throttle body is going to be a waste of money on stock manifold.
Don't do it. You'll never see that 7 HP gain without a re - tune
that will switch you to high test. And then I'd be suprised if you even see 3.

"Rear wheel brngs?"
Exactly! After all that. IWE's and original, un hooded solenoid are fine.
Had replaced the front bearing cassettes.
Now, replaced the rears with Timkens, new rotors and pads and the problem's gone. Thinking like an old gearhead, vibrations were coming up through the...
OK. Anything brighter on the incandecents? Maybe that reostat switch, subject of this thread, isn't getting the full 12 volts to the domes when rolled up to the stop@max brightness? 'Have to check that.
OK. Thanks Andy. Also gonna replace all dome bulbs with LED's.
With the switch cranked up, the interior is not as bright as some cars
and even my old '97 Expy. Hopefully they make some that are a warmer
white than the white/blue led's that first came out.
Bingo! The answer I was looking for. Never saw the post from ExpeditionAndy while responding to Stoned06 earlier. Somehow it slipped in between with an earlier post time and I had put the Droid away. But I can't thank you enough, Andy. So simple, I'm embarrassed that I didn't figure it out...
That would be the trick I'm looking for, but I'm not getting it. If your '06 is like my '05, when I open the rear hatch window, there's a square opening to the left of the wiper drive. That's the only latch I see, and there's nothing to slide. If you depress the two fingers inside, the lights...
Information Center says anywhere from 20 down to 16 depending on hills.
We know how accurate that is. Finally settles down to an average of about
what you're getting, so sounds about right.
This may have been discussed before. Can't find it in my manual or a search from my droid. '05 Expedition. I want to leave the rear tailgate open to dry out the interior from a water jug valve that leaked onto it overnight. The dome lights don't seem to shut off over a set amount of time like on...
I would never use anything less than a 3/4 ton rating for a snow plow, but you know that and
brought to the forum's attention what Ford says in the manual----Don't plow with your Expedition.
Having said that, it's your Expedition and not your daily driver, so why not? You're only going up and...
This is how I get all four wheels off the ground in 2 steps (1 per side).
This attachment for your floor jack not needed, but it better distributes the force to the frame as long as you're not fortunate enough to have a lift in your garage like me. Don't remember where I got it, but at least 15...
I also completely relied on a Dremel tool with remote cable drive and plenty of cut off wheels to get manifolds off my '97 5.4. Luckily, only broke one stud. After years of heat cycles here in the Northeast,
they rust into one blob. The nuts no longer have any shape for any kind of wrench or...
Update on my IWE problem:
There is no problem. With them, anyway. Lifted the truck in the air. Ran in gear, AWD. All four wheels will turn for awhile, the rears always faster. Then the system detects no load and the fronts will stop rotating even in awd setting. Hope that is normal. AWD light...
Living up in the Northeast, I've had to replace both hard and soft brake
lines on my '97. Didn't do that 'til they failed. I was lucky there was no accidents and certainly don't recommend doing it that way.
Depending on where you live, and the harshness that the weather has on your truck, I...
Checked at the point of each IWE. Used larger
hose barb coming out of casting. Smaller is a
vent. CV's, diff and driveshaft still turn after
applying vacuum. Probably replace solenoid
up at firewall even if tested good.
Gotta check to see if noise is coming from dry
shaft U joints. Thanks
Stephen
You would think that. It makes the same noise whether in 2 or 4.
The hubs are brand new Timkens, so don't think the noise is from there. The CV's don't click when turning and the boots are dry.
Truck's got 70K on it now, and the CV's on my '97 were good up to when I sold it with 225K. I...
So even though in 2WD switch position, stuff is churning in the transfer case?
Same thought about not flat towing an Expedition for fear of ruining automatic transmission and transfer case? I must have put 15 K on it in this condition. My first gen, '97 didn't have these IWE's, so front...

Ouch, I've got to check that.
Thanks,
Stephen
What tonydiv said. I just grabbed the "phillips head" with vise grip or pliers and pulled. Relieves the expansion fingers. Replaced with LED and silicone grease. No more problems. Buy new fasteners at any bodyshop supply store. These rear license plate lights burn out on the 2nd gens all the time.
I'm driving around with worn IWE's. Sounds like bad bearings or rubbing from warped rotors. It's a 2005. My '97 didn't have these things. I did the vacuum test on them and they don't hold vacuum.
So the front driveline is always engaged.
Bought the truck used with only 46k on it two years...
Fixing siezed rear wiper mechanism on 2nd gen and up.
Moisture seeps through the "O" ring on the shaft between the arm and housing on 2nd gen rear wiper mechanism.
White metal housing that wiper shaft goes through swells up with
corrosion, seizing the shaft. Ford probably didn't put adequate...
