    OK. Anything brighter on the incandecents? Maybe that reostat switch, subject of this thread, isn't getting the full 12 volts to the domes when rolled up to the stop@max brightness? 'Have to check that.

    OK. Thanks Andy. Also gonna replace all dome bulbs with LED's. With the switch cranked up, the interior is not as bright as some cars and even my old '97 Expy. Hopefully they make some that are a warmer white than the white/blue led's that first came out.

    Checked at the point of each IWE. Used larger hose barb coming out of casting. Smaller is a vent. CV's, diff and driveshaft still turn after applying vacuum. Probably replace solenoid up at firewall even if tested good. Gotta check to see if noise is coming from dry shaft U joints. Thanks Stephen

    Any Tricks to Removing License Plate Light Clip?

    What tonydiv said. I just grabbed the "phillips head" with vise grip or pliers and pulled. Relieves the expansion fingers. Replaced with LED and silicone grease. No more problems. Buy new fasteners at any bodyshop supply store. These rear license plate lights burn out on the 2nd gens all the time.
