    Brake Controller

I have a 2008 expedition and I fitted a brake controller, the 7 pin plug was already fitted to the car, so I just wired the controller into the 4 pin plug near the ODB plug and that was it, everything worked perfectly, there was no need to enable anything in FORSCAN, as stated I think that...

    Navigation DVD for 2008 expedition

But I like the current system, it links to my phone, the steering wheel controls, the rear entertainment system, etc, anything aftermarket won’t.. just wanted to get up to date maps..

    Navigation DVD for 2008 expedition

Hi Peeps, I have had my 08 expedition from new, I have the version 13P of the navigation DVD but it’s from 2014. Ford says that 13P is the last version that they sold, they have not supported this navigation system since 2013.. is there another company that is selling more up to date DVDs for...

    New member from the UK

Congrats, I brought my first expedition back to France with me in 2000 when I moved there from California. I first titled it in the UK as it was much easier and road tax was a lot less than France, then in 2003 France abolished road tax, so I jumped through a lot of hoops and got it registered...

    Peeling chrome wheels

My 2008 EL expedition has the stock 20” Ford wheels, I thought they where alloy wheels but I now have all the chrome peeling off, it seems they are actually steel wheels with a plastic chromed trim pressed on. I think it looks awful where the chrome has lifted off, you can see the white plastic...

    Key fob replacement.

I bought the cheap chinese copies and swapped the internals over (it was only the case that was damaged, this cost $5 and has worked fine for a number of years, if its only your case that is broken you might want to do the same thing. Gary

Missing piece on intake? 99 V8 Expedition

Is it where the engine oil level dip stick goes? it looks to have a tube running down from the marked surface to the bottom of the engine.

    07 got bigger brakes...swap to 06?

My 08 expedition has 170k miles and I just changed the front disks due to a slight warp in one disk. Why would you change them at 77k miles? That seems very early.. can’t tell you if the later disk and calipers can fit, but I would check your disks first, I think they will be a long way from...

    EL Running Board

It was not listed as being for an EL, but it fitted and worked perfectly.. the EL step is a bit longer and must weigh a bit more than the regular expedition step, but the extra weight doesn’t seem to have made any difference, I don’t know if ford sells 2 different motor units for a standard or...

    EL Running Board

I have a 2008 EL and purchased just the motor unit from eBay for $60 new, it has worked perfectly for 2 years.. I would suggest doing the same thing. Gary

No front turn signals, rear signals and hazards work

Just to state the obvious, are you sure the bulbs in the front indicators have been put in correctly, from your description I assume they are twin filament bulbs and whilst difficult to do, they can be put in the holder incorrectly, this causes the side light to operate the indicator filament...

    Spring compressor

I also borrowed a spring compressor from O'riley, it looked brand new and worked a treat, I was surprised that they don't charge a rental fee!! the springs need quite some force to compress (I guess the expedition is a heavy old girl so needs stiff springs!). Took me about 3 hours to change all...

    Climate Controlled Seats Inquiry

My 2008 heats the back, but the cool function mainly cools the Bottom, there are channels to allow the cold air to blow onto your back, but they don’t seem to let much air flow up to your back, so you don’t feel it. I changed the bottom seat cover a few years ago, and there is no heating element...

Crazy to buy a 2003 Exp with 135k miles?

I have owned 3 expys, a 98, a 2005 and a 2009 they have all exceeded 150K miles with no major issues (had a coolant hose fail on all 3, disk rotors wore out on 2, the 2009 currently has 180K miles and runs great, if the car is in reasonable condition I would not worry about the mileage!! Check...

Help with a dumb towing question

Unless I have misunderstood your question, you don't need any cable, the trailer will come with a cable that either has a 4 pin or a 7 pin plug on the end and you plug that cable into your car's rear plug (near the tow hitch).. No other cables are needed.

Issues removing the OEM "spring seat" when installing Bilstein 5100s?

As above, I had no issues removing the mounts on my old shocks and fitting them to the Bilsteins, also love the way the expy handles with the Bilsteins. Hope you are pleasantly surprised by the ride. Gary

Help with a dumb towing question

As stated that plug is what you wire into a connector under the front dash and allows you to connect an electronic brake controller to your car, You probably also have to add a fuse to the fuse box as Ford wont have fitted it. You purchase the brake controller (usually about $100) and there are...

    Led hi/low beams reversed

My 2008 expedition never came with HID, just regular halogen bulbs in a simple reflector, the LED bulb seems to put out more light and the light is a nice white color rather than yellow tinge and just makes things easier to see at night and seems to give a bit more range, a HID setup might be...

Going to tow for the first time in my life. Did I buy everything I need?

You have listed all you really need, I prefer an adjustable hitch in case you want to tow other trailers that might have a different nose height from your new trailer. Just remember the trailer always takes a sharper turn than the towing vehicle, so you have to make every bend wide so the...

    Led hi/low beams reversed

I have to disagree on the headlights, every time I drive my wife’s Subaru I am reminded how terrible the expedition headlights are (stock) I have a 2008 model. I upgraded to LED lights about 2 years ago and there was a massive improvement over stock, still not as good as the Subaru, but much...

    Led hi/low beams reversed

most LED bulbs have a spacer that you mount in the headlight and then the bulb fixes into that spacer, it is often possible to put the bulb in the spacer 180 degrees wrong, giving you the issue you have!! Check that first.. usually you rotate the led bulb about 60 degrees to release or lock it...

Bilstein 5100s Best Price? Any Downsides?

I bought new Bilsteins for my 2008 expedition about 6 months ago, so not a lot of experience, the ride got a bit firmer which I liked (the previous shocks where the original ford shocks with 150,000 miles so had probably lost a lot of damping!) but they have been great so far, but I have only...

    Lift gate

Are you pressing the open button twice in quick succession? If you press the button once, it won’t do anything, you have to press it twice quickly for the tail gate to open. It’s a safety feature.

    RF Window Noise 08

when mine was like that, there where 2 reasons, the rubber runners that the glass slides in where completely dry, they needed a bit of silicon lube wiping on them, but the biggest cause was the actual mechanical system itself, the mechanism that raises and lowers the glass needed lubrication and...

Replaced Rear Glass Lift Supports. Which will crack first, the glass or me?

I changed the set on my 08 expedition (purchased the struts from oreiley) they fitted very easily and I don’t have more than 1” of twist on the rear glass if I try to close it from the bottom left or right corner, sounds like your struts are far too strong for this application.
