Let's See Those Lifted / Big Tire Gen 4s!!

Those wheels look good on the truck. I can sympathize though, my FIL lives with us and rides with us and is handicapped and already has a hard time with the height. I'd lift it otherwise.

    Roof rails, upgrade from OEM

Thanks guys, that's what I was looking for. I'm of the mind of being a cheap bastard, but I hate when I'm a cheap bastard and have some kind of failure that could have been prevented by throwing money at it. Roof rails are something that if you chose incorrectly, it can be very inconvenient...

    Inlet/Outlet Hose Replacement

Yes, I had mine repaired at a third party shop with Ford parts. Bear in mind, it's still a lot of labor, though your 3rd party shop might have a lower labor rate than the dealership, it's still likely to not be cheap, there's a lot of work involved in replacing them. I will say though, usually...

    Roof rails, upgrade from OEM

Nothing wrong with them, but I've never used them either. Often times the OEM stuff isn't up to what we would expect and an aftermarket part is better/stronger/longer lasting, etc. Tires are a great example that come to mind. I'm just wondering, before I start relying on them, should I trust...

    Coolant Hose Leak

Go back and reread this comment in this very thread. Looks like 5.10 labor hours for the replacement if it's the same as mine was. Multiply that times your shops labor cost.

    Roof rails, upgrade from OEM

Been reading a bunch of old threads, didn't find what I was looking for. Any reason to spend money to replace the OEM roof rails I already have with aftermarket, or is it just money wasted getting the same thing? I don't have a lot of experience using them on past vehicles, but have some ideas...

    Ford Service Department Loaner Car

Read the post right before mine, where they referred to a rental car and credit card coverage. Just providing information that credit card insurance doesn't cover everything you think it might. Also, OP clearly stated that they'd have had to go to Enterprise if someone didn't step in and get...

    Ford Service Department Loaner Car

Just a couple of things to stash away in the back of your head. Always make sure to read the fine print. Here's a few passages from my cc benefits guide regarding rental car coverage. Yep, any trucks. Friend of mine was renting a car and they were all out of the car class he'd opted for and...

    Gorilla Nuts

Haven't had them done professionally yet, though it's due. The "Tire guy" is me that put the nuts on and my tire guy is lazy and has an impact for a reason. :D Yes it's disappointing, but not too noticeable unless I get up close like for the photo, and still looks way better than nasty chrome.

This is the worst wheel of the bunch.

    Gorilla Nuts

Yea, saw your like in my notifications and figured I'd come back in and toss up a long term update in case I could head you off. You are right though, not a lot of good options out there, and I suspect the black ones will probably all do the same. I'll post up a few pictures after I go get it...

Update, those lug nuts have chipped and rusted a bit. Not entirely happy with them.

    Coolant Hose Leak

I'm paying stupid money to get them replaced, simply because we have two family road trips before the end of the year and I need this truck reliable. But it does beg the question of what preventative maintenance can we do so I'm not paying this again in another 50K miles. That's of course if I...

    Coolant Hose Leak

Can we just replace those crimp sleeves with traditional hose clamps or oetiker clamps?

    Coolant Hose Leak

Based on my research, the answer to your question is "Yes." Failures have occurred in both places. I was apparently lucky (unlucky) enough to be one of the ones to have the failure back by the rear heater core.

    Coolant Hose Leak

I wish I didn't relate to this thread. Mine is in the shop right now getting new hoses installed and it's not cheap. I'm thankful that when it puked and blew the over temp warning 2 blocks from my house rather than leaving me and my family in the middle of nowhere at night.

Rear brakes - go from good to terrible in 5k miles?

Most likely they didn't look at them and you can't prove it. I'd replace them with better stuff.

    WeatherTech and Platinum - hmmmm

Don't know if they have them for your year model, but I've been pretty happy with these. The fitment was great, and while they won't hold a gallon of water like the WT's, that's not needed for me. Not sure if it'd work in Mass, but worth a look. Original thread -...

What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

Sawzall. Sold my 80 to get my Expedition. Better family hauler, better gas mileage, and better at overtaking on back roads. 80 was cooler though and I loved it. I still think it's hilarious how the 33's on the 80 looked huge and the same size tires look smallish on the Expedition.

What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

Trim the axle where the threads stick out, it's easy and you don't need to cut much off.

    2019 Transmission Shifts

If it hasn't been rebuilt yet, then it has the older problematic CDF drum. Not good.

    2025 Expedition Tremor

Surprised no one is talking about this one. Ever since putting the Tremor wheels and beefier tires on my Expedition I'd considered grabbing a few things and making my own Tremor edition, but now Ford is doing it. Interesting stuff...

2019 Major Issues within 10 months

Some yes. Plugged vent could happen anytime. Cam Phaser is definitely expected. IIRC the radiator hoses have to be removed for the Cam Phaser replacement and some folks have had them end up damaged or not reinstalled correctly, so that's possibly to be expected. A/C pump doesn't seem too...

What to do with speaker "pocket" on dash?

Here's mine, haven't used it nearly as much as I thought I would though. https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/builtright-dash-mount-installed.47233/page-3#post-476785

    Running Board Lubricant

Cleaned and lubed mine today. But I'm in Texas and don't go out when the ice hits here so they were in pretty good shape. All the same, a little PM never hurt.
