Location of main HVAC vacuum line in cabin? 2003 Expy XLT with manual AC controls

I have gotten that email from FPG and Tasca several times. A bit frustrating to say the least. Here's one on eBay...

Gen 2 Body Mounts and info

I received the Dorman 924-064 which is intended for 2007-2017 Expedition body mount positions 2 and 3. It might work for 2003-2006 positions 2 and 3, it certainly would work as a replacement for the radiator support body mount though. It, as you can see, is almost identical to the OEM radiator...

Transmission Bad? 2004 Ford Expedition XLT

I think I'd be more inclined to rebuild the salvage yard transmission and hope to only swap it once. Of course having said that I rebuilt the transfer case I got from the salvage yard. Really it was just a seal and bearing kit. I then rebuilt my original transfer as well since it had far...

Transmission Bad? 2004 Ford Expedition XLT

I didn't look. I just reached under there and snapped a couple pics until I found the right spot. I may have time to take a look over the next few days. I know where the output speed sensor is, I'm not sure where the input speed sensor would be. Looking at AllDataDIY it appears the 4R7xW...

2004 Ford Expedition - No hot air blowing on driver's side, intermittent hold/cold passenger's side

If the water pump is not leaking, the weep hole is not dripping and the engine temperature remains stable in operation the water pump is fine. If it fails you'll over heat pretty quick, usually they leak first though by design. The thermostat can be slow to react(open/close), stuck open or...

An inflatable mattress would work great with your plans. I'm too cheap for a hotel and don't like them anyway. You might also consider shipping it. The prices I found last winter for shipping 1 of our Monte Carlos was $1000 San Antonio, TX to Winchester, VA and $500 Winchester, VA to...

Oh I also made a shelf that went across the back from 1/2x24x48" plywood and 2x2's cut to fit between the windows. I then used sticky back velcro to hold the ply to the 2x2's, and 1 of the 2x2's went between the D pillar and seat belt to keep it from sliding forward. I had drinks, flashlight...

Oh I have done this several times for 4-5 days each instance. Put the 2nd and 3rd row seats down flat. Fill the gap between the rows with some towels, I also use a 1/4x24x48" sheet of luan over that. Then grab a twin size blow up mattress. It fits perfect and is quiet comfortable. I used to...

Cranks all day with no fire 02 5.4

My first guess would be fuel pump. When you turn the key to on can you hear the fuel pump run? If the fuel pump is okay, you can check fuel pressure, but my next step would be to scan it for DTC's.

Not bad, considering she’s old enough to drink

It does look nice. Cleaned up paint and new lights really make a huge difference. Some of the PDR guys are damn near magicians it seems. My wifes car had a several dents when we bought it that were all entirely removed, including a serious crease. It looks great now. I do wonder though if...

    Sudden battery death?

Actually 99WhiteC5Coupe is pretty darn well informed and frequently offers good advice. He's not being rude or condescending. Your experience is very common on vehicles in the last 20yrs or so. Such has been my experience at least. They just provide very little warning before the battery...

Gen 2 Body Mounts and info

I have new OEM bushings for the radiator support and the #1 position. I have 1 new OEM bushing for the lower #2 position and 1 used upper bushing for the #2 position. The used bushing is not in real good shape, but better than mine. The real issue with mine is the metal interior support has...

    Best aftermarket mods.

Haha, I have looked into da light, I wear the darkest sunglasses I have been able to find to drive at night now due to the modern headlights being so bright and often very poorly aimed/adjusted. The downside to the sunglasses is I can no longer see animals decreasing safety for me. I have...

    Radiator or transmission line?

Just cut the head off the plastic tree retainers with side cutters and punch the rest through the hole. They are really not made to be reused and after 20yrs they might break. You can pick them up for like $1-2 each in the help section at the auto parts store. Those things are tough to get...

    Best aftermarket mods.

Not too much available performance wise. You can get a CAI, general tuning chips and maybe a supercharger. Swapping the mechanical fan for an electric fan setup may get you some performance gains. Find someone that can properly tune it with a dyno and you might get some. At nearly 6k pounds...

2004 Ford Expedition - No hot air blowing on driver's side, intermittent hold/cold passenger's side

I was thinking there's a chance this is due to the vacuum solenoid or the outside air door actuator. Have you tried selecting recirculate air to see if that helps? If it does that should rule out the outside air actuator.

2004 Ford Expedition - No hot air blowing on driver's side, intermittent hold/cold passenger's side

The EATC module would have to be purchased used most likely. I'm not sure about the temp sensor, or even where the heck it's located. Apparently the temp sensor is located behind the gauge cluster. Fortunately, well for me it is, this HVAC issue is an area where I have little experience with...

Gen 2 Body Mounts and info

My quest continues. I've still had no luck finding replacements for positions 2, 3 or 4. My plan for the #2 and #3 position mounts is to stop by the local dealer to see if they have any for of them in stock for 2007-2017 Expeditions. They look similar so I want to compare and measure them to...

Transmission Bad? 2004 Ford Expedition XLT

I had to jack up my truck for a minute so I grabbed my wifes cell phone and was able to get a pic of my trans ID tag. By placing the phone about 4" behind the front of the pan and up against the heat shield with slight angle upward I got it. Based on your list I in fact have a 4R75W.

Transmission Bad? 2004 Ford Expedition XLT

A quick search on eBay identified the label location, the eBay sellers often take and post lots of pictures so it's a good resource for this. The 2 pictures below are reported as a 2004 Expedition 5.4L and we know it's 4WD from the tail shaft housing. Due to heat shields you will likely have...

Transmission Bad? 2004 Ford Expedition XLT

Yes the 70 and 75 are basically the same. I think it depends on the model year. There should be a tag on your transmission that might help identify it. In fact the image you posted has what I would expect to find, such as 4L1P-DA for a 5.4L 4x4 . If it's just an additional speed sensor see...

Rack & Pinion Play in Steering

Sure it could be stuck in 4WD. Quite a few reports of that in the last several months. There's a good bit of troubleshooting depending on the issue. The easiest thing to check is to start the truck and then reach under and try to turn the front driveshaft. The most likely culprit if it...

    Leaking brake line

I think it's 1/8" brake line, measure it to be sure. The flares are double flares. Inline Tube should be able to provide you the line you need, https://www.inlinetube.com/collections/brake-lines .

2004 Ford Expedition - No hot air blowing on driver's side, intermittent hold/cold passenger's side

My thoughts were the heater valve, but it sounds like you replaced that. The heater valve is vacuum operated so if it's not moving when you change the heat settings it could be a vacuum issue. I also wonder if you have an issue with the EATC module or maybe the interior temp sensor. There's...
