Smoke Test. EGR has tiny leak. Normal ?

There shouldn't be any smoke coming out of the bottom of the EGR valve. The diaphragm or housing has failed. Just make sure it's not coming from the gasket or the stove pipe connection.

Location of main HVAC vacuum line in cabin? 2003 Expy XLT with manual AC controls

It looks to me like you can just grab an 1/8" vacuum hose and connect the broken line to the heater valve. Soft vacuum line should stretch enough to fit on the broken line without much effort. I tend to use small or medium size model engine fuel line for nitromethanol fuel. In part because I...

    05 Expedition side view mirrors

I'm sure the info is out there. I don't know for certain, but here's my thoughts. There is a good chance the wiring is in place. That said you may need to replace a portion of the wiring harness and/or change a setting in one of the computer modules to enable the integrated turn signal. One...

    Sudden death

Clearly you have a power or communication loss and I suspect it's at the PCM as you did. I'll try to find the PCM pin point tests. In the past I had access to AllData which made finding the pin point tests easy. This is the only thing I have not yet found in the manuals I downloaded.

    Sudden death

Yep, check the grounds and start with the battery ground. Voltage drop test is so helpful.

    Odd noise

I use 4Lo to get the truck on to ramps. All ya gotta do is hold the brakes and it will climb them at idle. So much less stressful than using throttle. This is just to shift into and out of 4Lo. 4Hi can be used from stop light to stop light in a straight line, no turns unless the road surface...

    Odd noise

How often do you use 4wd? If not often you may have a driveshaft u-joint that's stuck or rusted. If it was caused during the cv axle swap I would look at the IWE, integrated wheel end.

Can you snag a connector from your old fuel lines?

2004 DATC driver side blend door actuator failure write up

It's not fun, but it's also not terrible. Take your time, expect it to take pretty much a full day and make sure you have a long thin ratchet or ratchet wrench to get the front screw out. Oh and make sure you keep track of where all the screws go in the console and such as you disassemble...

Seat covers - real replacement covers

I certainly agree TheSeatShop makes quality products, and their prices are reasonable for the quality. That is often the case with cheap stuff. I just had hoped maybe this time the reduced cost would impact appearance more than the quality of the coverig, clearly that is not the case. It's...

    Aftermarket replacement fog lights

Thew new lights look good. It's amazing how lights without oxidized lenses can change the appearance of a vehicle. Not to mention the obvious safety issue they resolve.

Driver main blend dood actuator location

There's some info in this thread regarding the driver side blend door. I replaced it twice recently since the first failed after 5 days. Both were new Motorcraft repalcements. https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/2004-datc-driver-side-blend-door-actuator-failure-write-up.59696/

Fuel tank leak on '04 Eddie Bauer

Why is plastic welding a short term fix? I have seen that epoxy, silicone and other adhesive type repairs are temporary, but plastic welding if done right should not be temporary unless I'm missing something. Replacement used tanks are difficult to find with out having been drilled to drain...

    03 Expedition 4x4 Issue

Yep, the A4WD setting simply energizes the coil which engages the clutches at whatever rate it's commanded. The minimum rate of engagement is 8%. The A4WD setting on the dash should not move the shift motor. The shift motor has only 3 positions 2WD, 4HI and 4LOW. There's some detailed info...

    New member 2003 Expedition

The most common leak on our fuel tanks is from the vents. From the factory they are sonic welded in place and not replaceable. There is a seam that just seems to fall apart. Lots of people have tried various repairs, but plastic welding is the only one that really seems to resolve the issue...

    Cold Water Leak

Unfortunately where the coolant hits the ground often doesn't provide much help in finding the leak. The first time I saw coolant on my driveway was on the passenger side rear of the engine, where the A/C condensation drips from. The leak, however, was from the passenger side front of the...

Seat covers - real replacement covers

Yeah I'm not a fan of the vast majority of modern technological advancements. I still don't want or need any features my 78 Bronco didn't have. This all seems strange to people that know me well because I have worked in IT for 30yrs. Maybe it's not so strange, I see just how bad it can be...

    e-15

There are stations in Virginia, Liberty stations in north west Virginia, that sell 100% gasoline. No corn syrup that gums up everything. Our fuel injected vehicles can deal with it more or less, lawn equipment and carbureted vehicles cannot and get all messed up with ethanol laced gasoline...

8 way Navigator seats into an 04 EB

Wow what a transformation. I never would have thought you'd fine glass in the seat. I also thought the seat belt pre-tensioners were in the shoulder mount, clearly not, at least on this model.

Seat covers - real replacement covers

I heard that. Far to hot and humid not to have A/C in FL. Yeah good point and that's how I often think about repairs. Such as the almost $450 it cost me to get a new OEM intake manifold that I installed 2 weeks ago. After recently driving a 2024 Expedition for 7 days and 800 miles, in FL of...

8 way Navigator seats into an 04 EB

Seats sure are sharp inside. Seems I always have to give blood for the cause. Thanks for posting this. As usual I appreciate your explanation, details and in this case pics. The funny thing is I spent years trying to find a manual seat bottom and bracket for my 2004 Eddie Bauer and finally...

Seat covers - real replacement covers

This is exactly what I expected to see in response. My wife sure isn't gonna be all that happy though, :) . She knows we're better off doing it once with decent materials/parts than twice with the right stuff the second time. I reckon we'll go with TheSeatShop again. I have no complaints with...

    No sound from rear speakers?

No you don't have to replace the wire harness. I believe the other option will be to run new wires directly from the head unit to the rear speakers. Unless you're running high power you might be able to simply find the wires that run to the speaker under/inside the console or pull the interior...
