Open drivers door dome lights come as usual.
Start vehicle with door open dome lights shut off or open drivers door while running dome light flash on and shut off. Dome lights work as usual with 3 other doors and lift gate when running or not.
Shut vehicle off leave key in ignition, "key alarm" chimes once sometimes twice and shuts off.
Pull key and open door, dome lights work as usual when drivers or any door opens.
No warning chime for headlights left on.
Ignition switch/steering column wiring issue? Door switch issue? Other??
Where would you start looking?

An OBDII scan with a scanner that can see the Body Control Module is where I'd start. I'd have said start with checking the door latch/switch, but if you have issues with the ignition switch as well then a scan.

Long dormant post.... 3 years of chasing a ghost was finally solved. THREE years and 3 batteries later (have to love battery warranties)....
All the above mentioned issues were because the mechanical lock wasn't opening fully when the drivers door was being opened. Nor locking all the way when closed.
It got so bad, the clock display was staying on... and lord knows what else. Had to open and close another door to get the clock display to shut off. <<weird, right?? Something with the timed courtesy lights.
There must have been more than just the clock display being "energized", the battery would drain down over a weekend, be D E A D in 4 days. The display was the only visible tell.

Anyway... it was the drivers door latch. Replaced the latch and the switches as long as I was in there. No sense putting old switches back in when everything was apart.
No more weird dome light behavior, key in ignition alarm works again, headlights left on alarm works again, and the clock display and whatever else shuts off as it should.

Amazing how many things are tied into the door latch and its switches.

Oh, my keypad entry started working again too. I could always lock pushing the last two buttons, but could not unlock using OEM code, or custom code. All because the latch wasn't opening or closing as it should. << never set off the door ajar warning. The door ajar worked as expected.

If you are having weird things happening when opening closing the drivers door, or any door.... play with the latch. On a whim I pushed on the latch mech' with a key when the door was open and the headlight alarm started working. (left the lights on on purpose) Cleaning/lubing it made it work for a few days, but the ghosts returned.
Comparing new old stock OEM to old one, the wear was obvious.
Ghosts are gone! YEAH!!!!

You were on the right track.... but it still took me 3 years to figure it out. The latch "looked" like it working. Even when manipulated with a screw driver.... Took many tries and pokes to narrow it down to the 2ndary latch mech in the latch assembly. <at least thats what I'm calling it. I should have just replaced the latch back when. Live and learn. Sometimes I'm a slow learner.
