Yeah it’s not whether people like crappy
Oem. The question is whether Ford puts top secret low quality tires on their vehicles. So far most say yes yet zero people can document it.

My stocks read: Treadwear 700
Wife’s stocks read: Treadwear 480
I’m not arguing that the manufacturer uses
A mediocre tire, I’m just pushing back on them using tires, with identical DOTs as other generally available tires with different rubber compounds and tread depths.
300 tread tires are...
It could very well be true. But if auto manufacturers spec out tires with inferior tread and rubber compound that also carry identical DOT identifiers and are only available to that manufacturer it would be very well documented.
Again, it could very well be true (it would make sense for it to...
China has committed to being neutral by 2060 as you said. Where are you seeing that the US is committed to 2035? Either way our road to carbon neutral is exponentially easier since, by comparison, we have virtually no heavy industry.
As you note for a whole bunch of reasons it’s crazy to...
On a per capita basis China emits fewer pollutants than the United States, are likely to hit peak CO2 prior to their goals and they are held to the same standards in agreements like the Paris accord.
But I digress.
It’s labor costs more than anything else. We can’t get anywhere near what...
Yeah it’s nuts. US manufacturing hit an all time low at the end of 2019. With the virus I doubt it’s going to come back any time soon though the virus also highlighted issues in the distribution chain that may help push some manufacturing back here even if costs are higher.
Could be. But got 20” and after driving through it for 45 mins they were completely clear.
Either way, even an inch higher and it would start rubbing on stuff so not sure.

Oh it’s garbage (literally since it’s probably recycled waxed cardboard and chicken knuckles) but I was glad that it didn’t get clogged with snow. I am still pretty shocked that they used such flimsy material.

Got a bunch of snow today and went for a drive. Remembered this thread so I checked under my Navi when I got home. Skids were completely clear. Was surprised.

Just checked. Mine were hanooks too. I’ve never had less confidence in a tire than those. I’ve had the backend get loose on me on on and off ramps even when I’m being conservative. Anything other than bone dry and they feel scary.

Always wanted to put a woodstove in the garage...gotta get around to that project.
I’m going to see if my dealer will instal fx4 skids on my Navi. Gotta believe it’s the same bolt pattern.

Yeah I’d love to see some verifiable information on this as well. With fords history regarding bad tires it would surprise me if they cut corners here.
With that said it’s not uncommon for large manufacturers or distributors to have a model that’s made specifically for them. Big box stores many...
