Sure wish Ford would offer the 5.0 on the Expedition,Which F150 engine would a Ford Technician pick?

You and I are in complete agreement here. But the OP was musing about the Gen IV Expedition as a possible application for the 5.0L Coyote. I am really struggling to think up a use case in which the 5.0L Coyote makes more sense than the 3.5L V8....

Sure wish Ford would offer the 5.0 on the Expedition,Which F150 engine would a Ford Technician pick?

Let me put words in another poster's mouth and rephrase: [Compared to the 3.5L Ecoboost], Aside from its nostalgic value, [Ford's 5.0L Coyote] V-8s have no use anymore. Twin-turbo V-6 gives you much more torque, horsepower, and less fuel consumption. I know everyone gets all worried about...

Sure wish Ford would offer the 5.0 on the Expedition,Which F150 engine would a Ford Technician pick?

You'd better like the sound of that V8, because if that video's anything to go by, you won't be hearing anything but engine noise when under load...

Sure wish Ford would offer the 5.0 on the Expedition,Which F150 engine would a Ford Technician pick?

I dunno, there's a lot of Suburban/Yukon buyers to poach. And judging from what sits around on lots, price doesn't seem to be the limiting factor on sales...

    Road Trip Review

We have a 2013 Outdoors RV Creekside 18CK. We bought it used in December 2017 at the Providence of God sale: off Craig’s List from a couple who were in the middle of getting a divorce. So we got it for a couple grand less than the minimum blue book which was ~$14k. The 18CK has since been...

    Road Trip Review

Instead of flying to visit family over the holidays, we decided to drive and take our 22'/~6000lb travel trailer. We left on December 15 and drove from Seattle to Austin via I-5 and I-10 and then up to rural OK (between Ada and McAlester). Came home pretty much the same way, except I flew back...

Sunroof or FX4 package? I reject this false choice! (Heck, I even added the towing package and the driver assistance package.*) More seriously though, have you actually walked in to a couple of your local dealers and talked to them? Dealers can and do trade amongst themselves (usually within...

Brothers and sisters buying 4 New 2019 Ford Expeditions and looking for advice

How's your credit? If it's "excellent", you may get a better deal financing than paying cash. See, car loans are sliced and diced and resold just like what the banks were doing with mortgages before the crash. In order to get the best price when reselling the bundled loans, the banks *need*...

Does your max fit in your garage?

    Nope. I’m limited by my wife’s minivan. . It’s a pre-war house with only a one-car garage.

    Experience towing with ecoboost?

What's your tongue weight and what size are your spring bars? When we bought our used trailer, the previous owner threw in the WDH, but it only had 600lb bars for a trailer with a ~930lb tongue weight. My new 1200lb bars worked wonders!

    3:73 gears and activex seating

Are you going to be towing anything or do you just want the low range transfer case and the locking rear differential? If you will be towing, you can get the FX4 package and then add the ITB as a dealer installed option for ~$500. Or you can get the FX4 package and the max towing package, but...

    How Often Are You Towing?

We've got a 2013 ORV Creekside 18CK. It's a little over 22' long, but between 5400 and 6000lbs depending on how we've loaded it. And it's tongue heavy at ~930lbs tongue weight. As for transmission temps, it usually runs about 210 deg, with the highest I've seen being ~230. That said we...

And, yes, we are religious about de-selecting the active trailer when unhitching. I had to reset the trailer odometer after learning that lesson. So the trailer really has a couple hundred miles not shown here...

FWIW, I just got back from our first real road trip with the trailer fully loaded*. In tow/haul mode and at 70mph over flat ground with little/no headwind, our 4th Gen will run ~1800rpm in 9th... (*guessing 6k lbs based on GVWR. I elected not to weigh it because I didn't want to know.)

    2018 Expedition Reviews

It looks like the 3.5L ecoboost is about 24.7" long and weighs ~450lbs. But that gets you performance about equal to the 6.2L V8, not the 5.3L. The 6.2L V-8 is 29.6" long and I can't find the weight. http://www.nobleforums.com/showthread.php?11675-Ecoboost-3-5l-measurements...

    2018 Expedition Reviews

The other issue with adding a V8 option is likely packaging. In general the V8 will be longer than the V6 which means you'll have to lengthen the vehicle (adding yet more weight in addition to the extra weight of the V8*) or move the firewall aft and shrink the passenger compartment... *And...

Ford does make something called a transit connect. Pretty much exactly what you describe above. You should go hang out on their forums and leave this one for people who want or need big, powerful, modern, albeit expensive, SUVs. People like me who loves the twin turbos and the 10 speed...
