    Where is it leaking?

Maybe just a sloppy job of changing the oil filter? I don't have a 5.4L, so can't picture the arrangement of the components to the filter.

High Then Normal Iron Content in Oil

Blackstone recommends taking the sample mid-drain. Also, make sure you run the car first to get the oil up to full operating temp. https://www.blackstone-labs.com/information/sampling-procedures/gas-sampling/

    Strange drivers side window issue

I have the same situation in my 2015 EL Limited. The first time it happened, I pulled the fuse and re-inserted and window began working again. Now it has stopped working again and I am dragging my feet to tear into the fuse box in the front passenger wheel well because it is such a PIA

    New recall

Not necessarily. They are making you aware of the potential problem (symptoms to look for) and providing a stop gap solution (replace with current motor) until the redone motor is ready. Of course, they are CYA for liability in case of serious fires with the current motor.

    2015 Electric power steering

Something like this will not let you reverse the cables, will warn you and not apply power unless the cables are connected correctly.

    2015 Electric power steering

I presume you are saying these things are not working after the car is running? If that is the case, then your alternator/charging system is not functioning. You should have some sort of battery/electrical light on as well as OBD codes. You need to check the voltage at the 12V outlet with...

What's been your oil change frequency? Miles/months?

    Lazy man’s oil change…

If you're changing oil every 5K miles, you don't need full synthetic oil. Just go with the Motorcraft Blend that Ford recommends.

    Lazy man’s oil change…

The oil filter on my '15 EcoBoost is incredibly hard to access. I have the 4x4 with HD Towing, and the metal skid plate leaves no room to remove the filter in the gap even after the very difficult access just to loosen it. Next time, I'm going to attempt to remove the skid plate entirely before...

    Decisions, decisions

First of all, they are completely different vehicles. The Highlander is car-based (Camry) while the Expy is truck-based (F150). If you decide you really need the 3rd Gen Expy, then I would definitely get the '15-17 with the EcoBoost V6. Great power plus good economy on Regular gas. Then you...

Oil change requires remove skid plate?

I've only had my '15 EL long enough for one oil change, and I reviewed several Youtube videos before attempting my DIY. It looked messy enough on the Youtube, but was actually much worse than I ever imagined! I attempted to leave the steel skid plate in place, but could not get the oil filter...

    Running Boards for 2016 EL

Plus, I believe the "always deployed" setting does not persist a shutdown/restart sequence. I tried it in order to have them deployed during a car wash, which was fine, they stayed deployed during the wash, but as soon as I restarted they retracted again. BTW, this tactic also defeated the...

    Hard downshift / electrical

Doubtful it would affect transmission downshifts. As far as your electrical questions, most vehicles will show a warning light for low battery (amber typically) and alternator issues (red normally). Alternator being more critical is shown in red so you will address it with more urgency. Low...

Just dont know how much more!

Looking back at your posts on this car, it seems all your electrical problems began after the "certified" handicap installer put the lift on your car around February 2018. It is a little late now, but you certainly can't hold Ford responsible if your lift installer messed it up from the...

    2017 -120,000 mile report

We bought our 2015 EL Limited in November 2020 with 106,000 miles. Now at 111,000 miles. I've done oil & filter plus engine air filter. Runs great, get 19-ish MPG. I've got some Check engine codes I should have addressed, and probably the spark plugs, too.

    Default Entertainment Mode with SYNC

Whenever I turn on the Entertainment (2015 Expy Limited with SYNC), it defaults to the FM source. I want to have it default to Bluetooth Audio from my Phone. Loss of Power - P0172 and P0175 Plus other Codes 3.5 Eco boost

I believe there are four O2 sensors total, two on each bank, one before the CAT and another after the CAT. I recently got P0151 "O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 1" This came up after running with P219B "Air-Fuel Ratio Imbalance Bank 2" for several weeks. I have no performance hits...

DIY Oil Change--How much oil to add?

Have had the 2015 Expy since November 2020. CARFAX indicated the selling dealer did an oil change June 2020 and 106K miles. The oil life monitor had gone to zero by June 2021 and 111K miles (12 months and 5K miles). I thought you could go 10K miles on the oil, so I suppose the algorithm takes...

    Identify button on dash?

It's momentary, just pushes in and pops out, no clicks that would indicate something is engaged or released. I purchased used, and the CARFAX indicated government use, possibly law enforcement, so I like your suggestion about add-on lighting. There are some holes drilled in the plastic cladding...

Can't find this button (circled in yellow) in the manual. It is a simple push button just above the instrument panel brightness adjustment.

    Help with 4x4 auto

We got our '15 Ltd 4WD 6 months ago with 110K. Noticed also that the truck does not like to downshift until RPMs get below 1,100 (approx.) resulting in lugging for a bit followed by an abrupt downshift. Now at the first sign of lugging, I downshift with the rocker switch on the shift lever...

Is the parking brake useless in the snow?

I received a delivery of a large home appliance last January while my slightly sloping driveway was covered in a little ice/snow. The driver backed up the driveway, parked it and he and his helper got in the back to move the item onto the lift gate to lower it to the ground. At this point with...
