Replace both battery cables from rockauto.com or check for original Ford assembly online. Not bad pricing.
Some people just replace the lead clamp which can be found locally at Walmart but I just like molded complete myself. Get some Dielectric grease & smear on the post connections and any...
I have the Beamtech also and love them!! Have mine aimed down a hair but they are great. The Beamtechs were fairly easy to install & are going on 3 years. I'm in Memphis & most people drive with high beams on for some reason. My lowbeams are Very sufficient over the originals. Will replace...
That will be a nice setup when you are finished!! Are you lifting the body & what clearance are you looking at??
To bad that bigger t-case wouldn't fit. You may want to get an aftermarket fuel tank. Those plastic tanks are known to crack on top and replacements are like hen's teeth.
Love the...
Before I spent that kind of $$$, I would check/replace any/all rotted vacuum hose, hose assemblies, PCV & hose & elbows that look rotted or feel spongy. Does not cost near the gasket replacement but will need to be performed especially if nothing has been done during that 154k miles. I...
Very likely. Is a good place for the 2 to mix. After you clean all that up, add some Hot Shot Secret Friction lube to your fresh new oil to get back into those places where the coolant mix may have set up.
YUP. Makes a nice 'Duster'. Ford diesel guys quit using those back in the late 90 Powerstrokes for that reason. They are used at the track but you don't have all that air borne junk and they change/oil their filters pretty often on the track.
Find a colored/shaded shield like those that fit over regular glasses for cheap sunglasses & modify it to cover your bright screen with the color best suited to your eyesight.
I have seen on a 2008 engine where a cam chain tensioner had broken off & jammed in the crank/chain sprocket. Engine would not turn over at all. Happened all of a sudden the owner said. Low miles on engine but virtually no basic lubrication maintenance (didn't change or check oil). Engine was...
Check rubber vacuum hoses for deterioration/leaking/rotting. 1 or 2 kinda hidden behind battery. Replaced all of mine not long after I bought with 100k on it. Age & heat had done a number on the vacuum lines. ran like a top afterwards like it does now.
In Chicago, I would be more concerned about RUST than the engine. It had to have good maintenance to have made it to 250K & running smooth (being a 3V 5.4)
Sounds like you may have seized the bearings, all of them. That starter has a lot of torque. You need to look for a new Reman engine. No 'Safe Mode' after no oil on these engines or any other.
I tried for 18 months to get an aluminum intake for my late 2004 5.4 and was never able to get a Ford part. I tightened the intake just a hair & it improved greatly but mine is not plastic. Do not know if available from Ford yet.
I would get them, direct replacement fit. I will see if I can round up wiring differences. If you can get the wiring harnesses from EB, get them all the way to under main dash plug connections. Should be able to hook up from there but will probably be FUN!!
Or change your sliders from the 2003...
