You may have created a problem (loose connection, placement, etc) with the Evaporator Discharge Air Temperature Sensor when you replaced the Evaporator. Shouldn't be that hard to check.
Should have about 2 credit cards space when free wheeling, no more. Your clutch bearing may be the problem but that also can be replaced. It may be staked.

Sounds like the clutch Hub is getting ready to depart thru the radiator. Can probably get by with just the hub since the clutch coil sounds like it is working ok.

Can you hear the latch engaging (click) ? If not, try checking the latch connection for corrosion, clean connectors inside, apply silicone grease (dielectric grease) to male and female parts of connector and snap back together. Try operation before reinstalling liftgate cover
That would be up to you. If you are going that far, check the cam followers & cam bushings/bearings to be sure there are no rough surfaces. Replace the oil pump with the Melling pump.
Otherwise I would replace the chain assy & parts, oil pump (Melling), crank position sensor & run some...

Check vacuum lines for cracks rotted lines. Need to pick up a smoke machine, you'll use it more than you think on these. Also check the Fuel Pump Driver Module on the frame since you live in Salt the roads country. May be corroded at mounting bolts.
