Thinking about a Expedition with a big camper

Depends I would say how many are you going to have in the Expy? How much extra pay-load weight? If it's no more than 4 and you keep the remaining cargo smartly loaded into the trailer you should be fine. Upgrade the sway bars, add some sumo spacers and become very familiar with using the local...

    Anderson Weight Dist users

Who's got an Anderson WDH? I'm curious about feedback on how this type of WDH can distribute the weight back to the truck without bars? I currently have an Equalizer 10,000 set up and it works great, but the idea of ditching 50lbs hitch weight in favor of the Anderson is very appealing. If it...

    Anyone tow a 7000lb camper?

What is your tongue weight on a 8000lb trailer loaded up? My guess is 900-1100lbs. What is the payload capacity of your truck? Not much wiggle room there. Too much on the rear accounts for the "wiggle" butt. Monroe Quick Struts all around were installed. I did not got to LT tires, no need for...

    Sunroof repair

Yeah, tha Yeah, that's the rub. I did the job, not too difficult but a good 11hrs of time and now I'm scared to test it again several months later for the fear it might bust again and I'd have to go through this again. Not using it is not a problem, but I may sell the truck in the next year or...

    Anyone tow a 7000lb camper?

You're way over in capacity for that vehicle to begin with, so saying that the Expy isn't a great tow vehicle platform but overloading the vehicle to begin with spells it out. I tow a 6700-7000lb TT with 2 adults and couple of dogs and we are at the very limit of the capability of the truck in...

How many owners out there with no major issues?

Curious, with all the issues you see on here about the transmission, shuddering, and cam and turbos I'm currious what the percentage that these issues are happening? I'm still on the side-line with my 3rd gen waiting for prices to level out or come down and had intended to buy a light-ly used...

    Towing ?

What tires? Are they the Michelin Defenders? I tow with mine at 42-43 psi and it works out great. Definitely stiffer and helps with the sway. Towing 30' length TT, 6500lbs.

Which Weight Distribution hitch do you use

Equalizer 4-point 10,000lb. Zero complaints. Took over a year to really get dialed in. Learning to use a Cat scale was key.

    2022 Expy announced

What is up with the hideous Platinum factory rims? The 18'-19' years IMO were the nicest looking rims. All one piece forged looking rim. Since 20' on they come with some two-tone rims that look no better than my wife's Mazda. If I'm paying Platinum level prices I would expect a nicer wheel...

    2008 expedition

Good luck! Btw, the 5.4 motor is a very solid motor, not sure what you mean by it being "God awful". I've owened two differenty Expys with that motor and it's been nothing but rock solid for me.

Should I be able to tow this trailer safely?

No, I wouldn't do that. Way undersized. Will it pull it? Yes, will it be safe, no. And it'll excellerate the deteration of your vehicles systems, trans, shocks, etc.

    2015 Limited Seat cracking

I had my cracked camel leather front leather seats redone in vinyl, matching the color exactly and still using the original head-rests by a local uhpolsterer. Choose to not redo leather because I'm often wet coming from the boat. Looks amazing, so glad I did. You can't tell the difference...

Can we talk HD Tow one more time?

You most likely need to adjust the WDH more. My guess is more weight should be transfered to the front axle, probably moving the arms up one notch. The best thing you can do is get to a CAT scale and get familiar with the process of weighing your set up. You'll be able to see how much weight is...

Reflections on upgrades after a 3-week road trip.

I notice a little more levelness to the cab when exiting and joining the highway, other than that not noticing much more. I notice the sumo-spacers a lot more, especially when going over speed bumps and such, definitely not as soft as ride as before. But not like unbearable.

Reflections on upgrades after a 3-week road trip.

Very easy. One can of throttle body cleaner and an old tooth brush. Think it was like 4 bolts and a couple electrical disconnects that you have to "unlock" first before pulling off. No gasket to replace, just stuck a clean rag in the hole after lifting off the TB. It was extremely dirty.

Reflections on upgrades after a 3-week road trip.

Got back about week ago after a 3-week road trip pulling my 30ft travel trailer from South Florida all the way on up to the Smokies and Asheville area. I wanted to give my impressions on all the upgrades i did prior to this trip to help out the old girl in pulling what I knew would be a maxed...

Advice on my new rig please !

I wouldn't tow those numbers without a WDH. I would have the generator box modified to allow WDH. My guess is it could be done with some cutting.

Changing my plugs and the coil mount cracked where it screws into the valve cover. Any solutions to rig?

I've looked at it further and I don't think it's able to grab onto any threads. Basically the mount has cracked and is like a "C". My worry is if I put something too large in it that it will break apart. I may try the smallest thing I can find, maybe the wire tie wrap might work. I've seen...

Changing my plugs and the coil mount cracked where it screws into the valve cover. Any solutions to rig?

Decided to change out my plugs today and everything was cruising along till I went to reattach my coil packs and noticed the retaining bolt wouldn't grab. I see it's cracked at the mount, not sure if it happened on removal or when putting back in. So, any solutions to a fix besides replacing...

Brake light, ABS light and traction control lights

Update: Got the truck back from shop, looks like for some reason the bearing on rear axle where they had replaced the sensor went bad. Damaged the sensor and had metal shavings on the sensor causing the error. Not sure if this is something they did when installing the new sensor prior, or if me...

do i have the hd tow package?

You have a Limited and no HD Tow? Are you sure you don't have it? HD Tow was standard equipment on Limited models in 2012. And to the OP, it was also standard on Limited models in 2010 as well...

Brake light, ABS light and traction control lights

Took to my local shop. Told me it was the ABS module. Replaced that and replaced the damaged looking speed sensor. Got back yesterday all was good till this morning when two of the three warning lights returned. ABS and traction control, with "Service Advancetrac" being displayed. Back to shop...
