    Help please

It might be worthwhile to either buy an inexpensive OBD II monitor from Amazon, or if there's one close by, try one of the auto parts stores that perform free OBD II testing.

Oil is cheap. Engines are not.

What is the optimal oil change interval?

Just my opinion, but anything over about 5k is pushing your luck, even with the modern synthetics.

Mileage indicator not showing up in dash

My '03 shows, but it is very dim. It seems brighter when I first start up, then grows dimmer as I drive.

Does this EcoBoost sound normal? Looking at purchasing.

To me, it sounds like a passing vehicle, not the Expedition.

Great news. $90 is an awesome price for the alternator. Hope it lasts a while.

Truck won't start (again), will the battery be okay for several weeks if not charged?

A couple or 3 weeks sitting shouldn't hurt your battery. But, any longer than that, you might consider putting a charger on it to bring it back up to full power. Letting a battery go completely dead or extremely low is hard on them and can shorten their life span. Or you might consider a solar...

Am I crazy? Chime tone change.

If you get 5 years out of a battery, you are doing good, especially in an extremely cold or hot climate. Once they get past 5 years old, I replace them. If your battery charger says it's bad, probably time.

replaced front brake caliper, after about 500 miles I have no brakes!! 02 expedition!

Did you replace the brake line hose when you replaced the seized caliper. Many times a bad hose (old) is the cause of frozen calipers. Possibly the brake hose is now leaking.

    Are fuel additives worth using?

Most top tier gasolines (Exxon, Mobil, Texaco, Shell, etc.) have additives that help keep the injectors and chamber clean er. If you are using grocery store gas or Murphy's, it wouldn't hurt to add injector cleaner every 5k or so.

Try lubing the window channels with some silicone spray lube. At least that's what Scotty Kilmer recommends.

    Rear Washer Fluid Line

As mentioned by whtbronco, this is a known problem and it happened to me. The washer line/hose to the rear washer becomes disconnected at a point behind the passenger side kick panel. The fluid then runs into the wiring channel underneath the passenger door plate. That will cause some of the...

    Radiator fans

I think it's normal for the electric fans to come on when the AC is turned on. Not sure why they would come on when the heater is used tho. Unless the heater also runs the compressor like when the defroster is used.

Where and What is this Water Leak?

AC condensation. Clear, odorless liquid = AC condensation. Only other possibility is from the windshield fluid reservoir if you are using straight water in it.

Coldsnap froze my windshield wiper fluid?

If you fill your washer with all season fluid that doesn't freeze at -30°, you need to run the washer long enough for the anti freeze formula to make it through all the hoses.

    Oil change question

I change mine annually and use Mobil 1 synthetic. But I rarely put more than 3,000 miles on it in a year. A few times I have gone as long as 5,000 miles. It's still a low (relatively) mileage vehicle with only 92k.

    Differential Fluid

I do have the whining/humming at certain speeds, but it's been doing that since I bought it in 2006. So I can live with it now. My concern is if the lighter weight gear oil was going to cause damage to the differential.

    Sudden battery death?

Well Captainjerky, yes, years (decades) ago you could tell when your battery was on its last legs. Now days, sudden death is the norm. The only way to tell is to put an electronic battery tester on it. I change mine out every 5 years or so just so that I won't be stranded somewhere at the most...
