    Replaced Tires.. Game changer..

I used to buy Michelins. I guess I didn't drive enough miles as they got replaced for dry rot/cracking of the sidewalls long before the tread was worn down. Never had other issues with them, the sidewalls just didn't last as long as the tread. Yeah, 6 or 7 years of use, tread never worn out.

Changed my daily driver, What is your daily?

Our Expedition was never meant to be a daily driver. All that money was for a nice (really nice) big vehicle we could put multiple family members in and go sight see, visit, just enjoy a day of riding around the country side. My wife and I, three 9 year olds (10 this December) belonging to our...

    Short drive yesterday

We've been up 522 a time or two (getting on it off Rt. 60),but I believe we turned west/northwest to go towards Gordonsville well before getting to Culpepper?? Might have to make the effort to stay on it all the way on one of our "road trips."

    Short drive yesterday

Rain (light), cold, Sunday, leaves changing color here in central VA. We took a short (about 4 hrs.) trip. Filled up at a gas station just west of 288 on Rt. 60 and got some pumpkin spice coffee. Drove out Rt. 60 to Rt. 15 and then turned north. Drove Rt. 15 up to Zion Crossroads and...

Rear Right Brake Light Not Working.

Does it have the two piece plug? My 2014 does. I had the right rear brake light stop working. Took the lens off, fiddled with it, swapped bulbs from the other side, wiggled it and suddenly it started working. Put it all back together and it lasted a few months before it quit working again...

    Cleaning tips

With limited use so far, I'm sold on the ceramic wash/wax and liquid wax products. Did two coats of the pump spray stuff on my wife's Outlander back during the summer. Took it home three times in the mid August/early September time frame (usually go in a car but death in the family, people...

I greased the caliper bolts ??

I misunderstood. I thought you meant the pins the disk brakes slide on as the piston in the caliper pushes them. But, I have greased bolt threads, too. After you break a few nuts/bolts off from 4 or 5 WV winters, you do what you can to make sure you can get that thing apart 3 or 4 years...

I greased the caliper bolts ??

I've greased them on other vehicles. Actually had enough rust on the 05 Silverado fronts that the brakes were no longer sliding to compensate for wear on the pads. After that I started greasing them. Nothing else goes into the salted roads in the mountains during winter so none of them have...

    Didn't even make 100,000......lol

If that's the list you could just safely ignore that one.

    Recent road trip

Yup, they ride real nice. That's why we bought ours (also a used 2014). To load up the small kids and their parents and go places the kids would enjoy seeing.

    Ford V10 and Expeditions

When I did my first oil/filter change I noticed the big gap between the front of the 5.4 and the radiator. First thing that popped into my head was how the old (early 70's) Monte Carlos looked like that. Don't know if it was engine sitting farther back in the frame or longer frame there out...

    Ford V10 and Expeditions

When I open the hood on my 2014 Expedition I immediately notice the open space between the front of the V8 and the radiator/shroud. First thing that pops in my head is, "Did they design it like that because they wanted enough room for the V10? Did they ever offer the V10 as an option for the...

Leaking sunroof, need new gasket? Any adjustments? What is acceptable amount of leaking?

I've got a 2014 and it has never had a sign of a leak. So, for me, it's no leaks.

    Overhead console glasses door

Mine has never fallen out, so there must be something broken off or fallen out/of it there somewhere. I wonder how hard those are to find (in case I ever need one?)

2014 LE, right rear tail lights, again

Noticed the other night (coming home in the rain after a wedding) that the right rear tail lights were out, again. Didn't find the issue the first time, they just started working again while I was fiddling with it trying to find out what was wrong and nothing I did made the stop working...

    Transfer Case Shift Motor Help

Can't say about the Fords. Had a Chevy Blazer (mid 90's) act up one time. In 2WD, if I hit the button for 4WD High it would light up the 4WD high indicator, then go back to 2WD and light that indicator light up again. If I stopped, hit the 4WD Low button it would light up the 4WD Low...

Had a thought on the 14 Expedition LE this morning

Really bad rain/storms here yesterday (south of Richmond, VA). Road covered, even some bridges on major roads were under water. Had my youngest son's wedding to get to yesterday and we took the Expedition. Four of us in a big LE model (4WD, too). Took just over twice as long as it should...

New Member - 2014 Expedition EL

Hey, I bought one last year (2014 EL) and we are still loving it. My in-laws tell me it's the best riding vehicle they've every gone on a trip in. My wife likes it, but she's still intimidated by the size of it when parking. Used it a couple weeks ago to take my nephews kids to a lake to...

Bleeding brakes before changing brake pads?

Never thought about opening/cracking the bleeder valve to compress the piston for new pad installation. I have bled the brake system to get old/nasty fluid out and new fluid in the system. Now I'm thinking that doing the bleeding when compressing the piston might be a better way to do it...

    Changed my oil today..............

I don't mind where the filter is located. I've only changed oil once and the drip pan worked perfectly. No oil anywhere but in the drain pan. My oil filter was not hard to remove. Neither was the drain plug. Now, the other day I changed oil/filter on my wife's Outlander. Last one was at...

When do you use the door code?

Never. It was used when I bought it. I have no idea what the code is. No idea how to reset the code. I just use the key fob.

    Discount Tire

Got my last set of car tires from them. Ordered (little sucker has two different width tires front and back and are ultra high performance tires, too) them, they called and said they were in. Drove up to get them put on and was told only three tires arrived that morning. The two rears and one...

Front differential fluid change + fill plug upgrade

When I've done that in the past I just bought a new gasket/seal and removed the cover plate. Let the old fluid drain out, clean up the cover plate and differential sealing surfaces, install the new gasket/seal with a bit of gasket sealer (to seal and hold in place) and reinstalled the cover...
