Thank you. Step 1 is not needed though. I found you can remove the OD wire by releasing the connector behind the steering column cover. I think that was easier than trying to use a small screw driver and needle nose pliers. Definitely nice to look at the new shifter boot.
you don't get 20's and mud tires to worry about your mpg. if you really care then go back to 18's and get some street tires. You will probably get 4-5mpg better.
You say you don't want a body lift but all you want is to clear bigger tires? Body lift is perfect for your situation. Get the Truxxx 3/2 kit, cheap kit and easy to install.
Can someone please help identify the name or part # of the rubber piece that goes over the gear shifter and possibly a good place to buy it other than the dealer?
I did notice something similar to a fluttering sound for a few seconds when I started it. It had never made that sound before though so I didn't really think too much about it. Owning a high mileage vehicle is always risky to drive. I've had Mercedes, BMW's, and this Ford and after 100k miles...
Just had the oil changed at the dealership so I'm assuming they used whatever the recommended oil is. Turns out the fuel injector failed and allowed gas into the oil which caused the oil to thin and seize the motor. I gave the car to my dad and he's going to buy a new engine for it. $7k...
My engine seized a couple days ago right after it hit 160,000 miles
Edit to say the engine was maintained perfectly and failure was not due to any kind of neglect. I bought it brand new from the dealership. This will be my last Ford.
The radio from my 03 expedition only has 2 connectors on the back of it, but the person I sold it to has 3 connectors on their 03 expedition. What is the 3rd connector for?
Haha, well I do not own the expedition anymore, I sold it to my parents who need it for some construction work they are doing on their house and I was posting the question for them. They got a little impatient though and just went to the dealership to get the new keys before I could tell them...
What are the options for getting a spare key besides going to the dealership for it? (I have one key and would like a second spare). For some reason when I search for "key" nothing comes up. If I have to go to the dealership, how much will it be?
I used a Genicolor touch up pen to cover up some light scratches that has taken the paint off and it worked pretty well. The color from the pen was very close to the original color and it does a good job of masking the scratches. It does dry fast though and you don't have much time to play with it.
The dealer really hooked me up... they ended up doing the $2800 oil pump replacement for only $200 and it turned out my crank bearings are okay after all. Also included in the $200 they did a nice job washing the car by cleaning the rims which they usually miss when they wash. I can't believe I...
Tires lasting 100,000 miles with abuse? I've never heard of a tire lasting that long. The biggest you can go is 275/75/16 on your stock setup. I hope you have the same good luck with your next set of tires.
Well I'm still mad that my ford had massive failure at such an early stage in its life. I worked out a deal with the dealership to replace the oil pump for the costs of the parts only ($400)... so it looks like I won't be getting rid of the expedition after all. Once a get this oil pump...
i'm considering it, i'm just extremely pissed off ford did the the $3500 head gasket /timing chain / valve job without noticing the tons of metal shavings in my oil from the crank shaft bearings. That $3500 could have gone towards a new motor instead of just down the toilet. I've debating...
be careful, everything can seem perfect then all the sudden your head gasket will blow, your oil pump will fail, and your crankshaft bearings will shred all without any notice.
Also my crank shaft bearing are gone and the oil is filled with metal shavings.... guess you guys won't be seeing me around for too much longer because I'm getting rid of this thing. It's pretty sad because I wanted to keep this truck forever.
