    Front-end squeeks

How do your swaybar bushings look? I had a bad squeak in my frontend and it ended up being the bushings. Replaced them and noise gone. Worth a shot and a lot less $$$$ than ball joints.

    Expedition and Smartcar

Looks like a Matchbox car next to a Tonka truck.....LMAO!!! Um, yeah, I'll deal with getting 12mpg around town. You won't catch me in that tin can car.

    gas mileage

I manage about 11-12 city and I've done as good as 18 highway on my 2002 4x4 with the 5.4. She has 150,000 miles on her, as well, and all stock.

    Good day ruined

Depending on how dead the battery was and how far a drive you have back home, you may be fine letting the alternator recharge the battery. If you have a short trip, I'd put a battery charger on it overnight and see if the battery recovers. I've done the same thing before (forgetting to turn...

    General Tires

I have read that General and Continental are, essentially, one in the same. The Continental ContiTrac TR is their all-terrain tire and has not been recieved well in the truck and SUV market. Lots of sidewall issues, blowouts, etc. Treadwear is apparently outstanding, however. From the looks...

    Ford Design Engineers SUCK!!!!

Sorry to hear you've had such bad luck with your Expedition. Personally, I bought my 2002 new with 3 miles on her. Today on my way into work, she turned the 150,000 mark. While I have had to do (2) COP's in that timeframe, I have had no other failures whatsoever. On my 3rd set of tires...

    Compass Claibration 2004 Expo

I had to do a similar calibration on my 2002 about 2 years ago. I forget the exact steps, but I had to hold in 2 buttons for 15 seconds to put the overhead compass in configuration mode, then drive in circles for about a minute. Once it set itself, it was good to go. There is a post here in...

    Good Winter Tires

Are you sure about the snowflake rated? I'm running that tire but don't see the "snowflake on the mountain" emblem anywhere on the sidewall. Are you, perhaps, looking at the 4-season design emblem (rain, sun, snowflake) which the words Cross Country are surrounding? I'm not saying you are...

What do yal think about these Expys?

Couldn't agree more. Everyone in this great nation has the right to do what they want to enhance the look of their vehicles. While I choose brush guards and rugged looking equipment, others choose big wheels, custom paint. It's all good!!! Best part of it all - EXPEDITIONS!!!!

My 1st EXPY pics inside, come check `em out

Really nice looking Expedition. I love the monochromatic look.

What do yal think about these Expys?

Just my personal preferences, but I also chose neither of them. The slammed look with big 22's just isn't my cup of tea. I like the rugged look of my 2002 and have told friends that if I ever get the urge to slap some 22's or 24's on my truck to shoot me before I get to that point.

Can I Fit These Tires ?

I know the stock size on the 4x2 Sport Appearance Package Expeditions was a 275/60R17, so I guess the 55 series tire should fit without too much trouble. Are you running the stock 17" rims or do you have aftermarket rims in mind?

    A lil disapointed...

The last snowstorm we had here in southeast PA dropped about a foot of snow overnight. I ended up getting stuck trying to get up our driveway, but I contribute that to the tires I have. After about a minute of sawing the wheel back and forth, I got up the driveway fine. I've always had...

Looking to add a brush guard... help & pic request

I have a full wrap-a-round GoRhino guard on my Expedition and it has held up very well over the years. I had to push my dad's Durango up the street after it died to a service station and the guard did fine. I have (2) PIAA driving lights mounted on the crossbar. Well built product!!

    MagnaFlow vs. Flowmaster

I was going to ask about the Gibson systems. My dad had a Gibson single swept-side system on his '96 Bronco which sounded nice (he hated it). How does the sound of the Gibson compare to the Magnaflow & Flowmaster systems? I can get either of the 3 systems through my work, but wanted opinions...

    Lightning supercharger install complete

Nicely done! Looks totally factory. I was pondering doing the same thing to my 02, but the high miles I have kinda swayed me against it. I had an opportunity to purchase a complete supercharger system from an 02 Lightning with 12,000 miles for $1000 about a year ago, which is what started my...

I got mine at Car Quest. They were about $8 each, as well, as ghost mentioned above.

    Kelly Safari TSR

It is a great looking tire. And I see it is snow-rated, as well. I'll have to add that one to my list, too!

Need help decided wether to buy 4wd or 2wd, 2002 or 2001 Expy?

Check the front hub bearing assemblies. My right one went around 120k and my left one went about 3k ago. It starts off as a rubbing/grinding sound and eventually works up to a metal to metal sound.

    Kelly Safari TSR

I'm beginning the process of searching for another good all-terrain tire for my 2002 Expedition, stock size of 265/70R17. Thought about going up to the 285/70R17, as well. I've narrowed it down to a few, but wanted opinions on a Kelly Springfield tire I learned about recently, the Safari TSR...

Need help decided wether to buy 4wd or 2wd, 2002 or 2001 Expy?

My 2002 Expy has almost 150k and I've had no issues with the A4WD system. I have the 5.4 and manage about 12-13 around town and have gotten 17-18 on the open road. Seeing you do travel places and go camping where, in your mind, you would like the added security of 4x4, I think you have...

    oil

I have almost 150,000 miles on my 2002 Expy and still use the Motorcraft 5W-20 Synthetic Blend at every oil change. I've toyed with switching to a high-mileage oil, but I truly believe in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" theory. I typically go through 1/2 to 1 quart every 5000 miles...

If the Expedition had the following engine options, which would you choose?

While I love the idea of the diesel, I've had an interest in the 2003-04 Mustang Cobras and Lightnings with the supercharged engines. I'd love to hear the whine of an Eaton or Whipple supercharger from under the hood of my Expedition!!

Who has the most miles on the odometer of their expedition?

148,000 on my 02 XLT and still going strong. No major repairs other than wear and tear items (COP's, plugs, brakes, tires, etc). Change my oil every 5000 miles. I'm looking forward to seeing the odometer hit 200,000!
