Thanks to all who answered. I am not a mechanic but take good care of my vehicles. That said, I think I will start the process of looking at a replacement and hold on to my 06 for a while . My kids are grown and have grandchildren out and in college so no one to hand to close by. Probably get a...
Thank you to both Bain64 and 1995Moose.
I’ve also got 2 long road trips in the near future. Last time I rented an SUV to be safe.
I can go get another newer SUV I just hate to spend the money. I am retired and need to be careful with new toys.
May go get transmission checked and drive old...
i bought this truck new and put the 267k miles on it. It has been wonderful vehicle but now wondering whether to continue to keep and fix or get another.
Used Mobil 1 oil and transmission fluid whole time and replaced AC and some kind of separator plate in tranny but now there is thump when...
Thanks to all of you for responding. I had two estimates from shops that are well reviewed and ones I have used before successfully, and the prices were nearly the same. On the condenser issue, I will go with the shop that said they would check it before they replaced it to see if they could...
Unfortunately that seems to be the case. Here's what I was told. Need to replace main compressor, accumulator, hose and flush completely. Replace oil, o-rings for $1600. Only when they get in will they know if condenser needs to be replaced but it would add $490. So it would be either $1600 or...
I have asked for clarification of what is included in the price, but I believe it is the compressor, condenser and hoses, not sure what else. Plus refilling with Freon. As I get more info I will let you know by posting it. Not sure about flushing it
Thanks to both of you for replying: I live about 40 miles north of Atlanta in the N Georgia mountains, and my kids are in their 40's but both have families and always need an extra car to drive to/from work. Not that I want to give it away but each of them are Ford people as well and like my KR...
I have looked on the forum but cannot find any info on this subject. I have 2006 KR with 5.4L V8 with 242K miles on it. I am the original owner and have put all the miles on it. BTW, I run Mobil 1 Oil and Synthetic Transmission fluid with no problem from first 15K miles. No issues but CLEAN...
You might check with Ford on The TSB and take it someone to look at. I'm not much on car mechanics but if you are or know someone who is, it might not be hard to check. The plate was cracked in my case. So it was pretty easy to look at it and tell. I guess it was a fatigue crack from the miles...
No they didn't mention the year but I believe all repair shops can subscribe to the bulletin service. Have no idea how though. Perhaps a call to Ford Service guy at dealer could help. He also showed me some little plastic balls that looked like mouse poop and said something about their use to...
Got my Expedition back today and it was the separator plate that had cracked. AAMCO replaced the plate, fluid, and filter and transmission works great. Much cheaper that torque converter or transmission.
Thanks to all
Thanks, I will look at that. The local AAMCO tells me there is a TSB about something called a separator plate that causes similar symptoms. I will post findings
2006 Expedition KR, 4WD with trailer tow package. 230K miles and was running great. Use Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil and also Transmission Fluid. Do not tow anything any longer (sold boat about 5 years ago). Driving back to Georgia from NC in heat, the Check charging system indicator came on with the...
I have a 2006 KR Expedition 4WD and recently the key fob began to intermittently work. Now has stopped working. Door keypad works and batteries have been changed in fob. Neither Fob works now. Think it may be receiver but not sure. 123k miles. Love my truck. Thx for any help.
