    Thanks Eight. I am keeping this in mind, but it really feels like it is something in the drivetrain. I had a bad COP a few years ago but this buck/jerk feels different than that. Anyone else have any input? TIA.

    IWE SOLENOID! Thanks Mindgame. I finally got it to act up again yesterday afternoon and tried the little test you suggested. Apparently this is a pretty widespread issue with certain years of all 4WD Fords. I'm going to try to get the part and fix it this afternoon.

    UPDATE. I finally got a chance to talk to my wife long enough to find out some specifics. If the thermostat is set all the way to HOT or all the way to COLD, it pops. If she turns the knob a little, it stops. It doesn't pop anywhere in between HOT or COLD. She said the air from the vents...

    UPDATE: Thanks dougsmcp, great read and a ton of info. I was able to finally get the last 3 plugs swapped out. Apparently that was the problem as the misfire and overall poor performance are gone. Thanks for all the info.

    Thanks. Yeah, all the fluids are next on my list. Im just trying to figure out this misfire PITA. So, what COPs do yall recommend? Stick with factory, accel, or is there something else out there I should be looking at? Thanks.

    Yes. I waited til the next day to swap in new plugs. I don't know if the misfire followed the COP...I haven't had any new misfire warning lights or CELs since I cleared the original CEL code. Thanks for the input. Any other ideas?
