I thought about the coolant going out the exhaust too or other head gasket related things but haven't found anything pointing to that......no coolant in the oil or no sweet smell in the exhaust either. I was also told that if the truck is cold and you take the cap off the coolant tank and have...
I don't think that there ever was coolant missing (Although I'm still not completely sure it was put back at the correct level in the first place after the system flush)....after I checked the level initially and added some the correct level hasn't changed. A longer drive to test it out is...
Did a water pump and thermostat on it today.......my local Ford shop said they have seen the water pump rust and fall apart on the inside so I decided to get the thermostat done on too. The water pump looked good when it came off but put the new one on anyway.....when the thermostat was removed...
Just checked the coolant level after adding some yesterday and it is where it should be after sitting all night.......that probably eliminates the idea of a possible leak. I'll take anymore input on this....Thanks!
I haven't noticed any coolant level drop before I put more in yesterday but I know it hasn't dropped since then and I checked it twice. I'm going to plan on changing the thermostat and replacing the coolant again. Any more input will be appreciated!
As far as the color goes I assume it is rust......nothing has been done since it was flushed and there were no leaks as far as I know (I wonder if it needs to be flushed again?). The only reason I had the system flushed out before was because it wasn't heating very well. I did fill it up to the...
The truck has been sitting for bout 2-2.5 hours now and the level is about 1 -1.5 inches under the cold mark on the tank. The coolant is green (brownish green now). I had the cooling system completely flushed approx. a year or year and a half ago. Any more input would be great!
This is kind of related to a previous post I had........For some reason my 2001 XLT temp gauge in the dash all of the sudden went all the way to the hot side and my coolant light came on while I was driving one day. I stopped, shut it off and checked and there was no overheating at all and no...
Where is the coolant temp sensor located on a 2001 Expy with a 5.4? This is the one that controls the temperature gauge in the dash. I looked through the forums but haven't found anything yet. Any help would be appreciated.
Anyone know of a good place to get fender trim for my 2001 XLT? I am looking for black ones.......preferably something that doesn't break the bank. I would appreciate any help.--Thanks!
I finally got my push bar put on my Expy and now want to find some fog/driving lights for it.....so what has everyone been using? I will check out the halogens but I am leaning towards LED's (the brighter...the better). Obviously I want some good, weatherproof ones....not the ones that fall...
I see your in MN.....I'm in Iowa so I know what you're talking about as far as the stuff they put on the roads in the winter! How long does the Plasti-Dip it take to dry? I may do it this weekend.
I was wondering how well it would hold up.......if I did it now I would probably be doing it again in the spring.......winters can be rough. You would think road salt and the like would stick to the plastic (or just fall off). I imagine other areas would hold up a lot better. Thanks for the...
I didn't figure it would be too tough to do and then just rub off any overspray.......just wanted to check before doing it. Anymore input would be great!
I am looking at using the Plasti-Dip on the rocker panels on my 01 Expedition and I was wondering if anyone has done this? By what I have read on other posts it looks like you can use it just about anywhere and just peel off what you don't want (like any overspray). Any input on this would be...
Here is a follow up.......since I changed the EGR sensor and did the seasfoam treatment my mileage has gone up to almost 12.5 so something worked. Thanks for all the input on this!
New EGR sensor and hose installed (only needed to replace 1) and I did the Seafoam treatment through the brake booster.........I can tell you that it has ALOT better response when I hit the gas pedal! It also doesn't seem to be working as hard when driving. The white smoke was rolling when I did...
I picked up the sensor yesterday and am going to install it and check out the hoses today. I will probably drive it and see if the code comes back and if it does do the valve. I think I read other people were having some hesitation issues also.........I am too at lower speeds (it is fairly minor...
