    Odometer fixed

Just to verify: the job is very easy to do but at first very daunting. I dreaded taking the dash components off and dealing with the issue. I finally gave in and bit the bullet. I had three joints that were broken and needed soldering. I put up with it way too long and bruised a few knuckles on...

    Passenger Side Mirror

Driving on the interstate Saturday when my passenger side mirror fell apart. The black outside protector panel had fallen off first and the wind pushed the mirror out causing it to hit the passenger window. It was left dangling by two wires that provide the heated defrosting element. After...

I've replaced the motor on my rear wiper twice. The first one had some broken sprockets on the wheel. the second one installed fine and worked for about 10 trips before it quit. If I stand at the wiper motor and manually lift it up until something catches, it goes up and works until i shut the...

    2001 Expy Tailgate Glass cable

The cable that opens the tailgate glass is broken at the handle area. it is still attached up at the window latch, though, but I don't see a way of getting it out. I see four bolts holding the whole window latch onto the tailgate, but i'm not too sure how bad it is to replace. does anyone have...

    High mileage Expys?

2001 Expedition XLT. 5.4L now has 405,200 miles. Put in a donated tranny at 205k even though the original was performing fine at the time. The new tranny only had 20,000 miles at installation. The pedal adjustment recently broke but I synced the gas and brake pedal to the floor board and...

    High mileage Expys?

2001 XLT, bought it new December 2000 with 8 miles on it. I have 387,487 on it now. This week, I replaced the rear wiper motor (Missing teeth on the flywheel). I am dealing with two minor issues at the moment. 1. After putting on a fresh new air suspension pump/dryer from Arnott, I've begun to...

    Air Suspension

My air bags on my '01 Expedition 2wd has finally developed an extremely slow air leak. The leak is so slow at this point that the bags could stay inflated overnight sometimes. After 387,000 miles. I replaced the compressor/dryer myself in December and it stayed up until now (March). I'm...

Poll about 5.4l V8 and mileage

2001 Expedition XLT 5.4L original engine. Replaced Trans at 210k. It just turned over 336,000 miles and is running strong. I've got a bit of road vibration at high speeds and I'm thinking its the wheel bearings again, since i've had the tires balanced twice.

    Can't find source of Whine

When I let up off the gas or put the transmission in N the sound frequency drops. I have sat in the back seat to listen while someones drives and it is coming from the rear of the Expedition. After coasting to 55 mph the sound goes away.

    Can't find source of Whine

The Expedition is a 2wd XLT 5.4L. The sound has been there for a couple years now and just drives me crazy while on the interstate. the high pitch still sounds like tire tread noise, but i've changed tires, flushed the rear differential. my next check is the rear wheel bearings on the driver...

    Can't find source of Whine

1st Gen 2001 Expedition has developed what sounds like Tire noise at high speeds over 60 mph. It almost sounds like tread whine from a tire made for all terrain vehicles but higher pitched. I've changed tire treads, I've changed differential fluid. Still there. Any ideas?

    2004 whine

Hi, I'm new to this forum and need some help on this "whine" issue that's coming from my Expy XLT. 2wd, 5.4L. Mine began last year about when I bought new tires. I really thought it was tire tread whine. It begins about 60mph, gets louder about 70 - 80mph. funny thing is, I can turn my head to...
