Just to verify: the job is very easy to do but at first very daunting. I dreaded taking the dash components off and dealing with the issue. I finally gave in and bit the bullet. I had three joints that were broken and needed soldering. I put up with it way too long and bruised a few knuckles on the cluster in the mean time!
