update: I think I may have found the problem. I did switch the injector for the number 1 cylinder (because it was the easiest to access) and the problem went from a po303 to a po301, imagine that haha. So I replaced the injector with one from pick n pull and so far no codes. typically it only...- beachbums86

Awesome, thanks for looking that up for me. I just got my factory manual back from my friend and it said the same thing. I guess I'm back to looking at the fuel injector.- beachbums86

Okay so after a little searching I might have found my problem. The Haynes manual I was using stopped at 1999 I think. It said the plug gap should be .054 the other manual I looked at said they changed it after 2000 to be a .045 gap. Would that much of a gap difference cause it to miss and throw...- beachbums86

Ok I will try that and see what happens. I did put some Lucas fuel injector cleaner in last night but it's to early to tell if it helped- beachbums86

I actually have the hard copy of the ford service manual but I had let a friend borrow it. I also verified battery voltage at the connector to the coil. It seemed fine- beachbums86

2001 XLT won't start after sitting.
I don't have much information to help you as i'm here to learn not instruct but I just thought it was cool that as a new member the first thread I read was from a guy that has the same truck (2001 xlt expedition) and lives only one hour away from me haha. i'm on the other side of Elizabeth city.- beachbums86
