2014 here. Anyone aware of a source for the black sliding plastic part that the OEM roof rack cross bars attach to? This part slides back and forth in the roof rack 'tracks' at either side of the roof so you can put your cross bars where you want them. I buggered one of them up.
I think that is a very good answer. It's the same conclusion that I arrived at but wanted to run it by some other folks familiar with the rig. I don't like being over limits at all in this situation. If something goes wrong and there's an accident, then liability could be pinned on me.
I was...
Is there a way to increase the front axle GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating)? Anyone explored this? I have a 2014 with 108K on it. Front GAWR is 3550 lbs, just like the Gen 4s I've seen.
Have a front hitch. When I put a motorcycle carrier and a 280 lb motorbike up there and have a passenger up...
I have a 2014 (5.4L, 4WD) with just over 100k on it. Original struts. Recently, I put a CURT front hitch on it and have put a 300# motorcycle on a hitch carrier up there. More sag than I'd like. Would like to know what options I may have for load leveling, if any. Thanks.
Back now to using a tank of Costco gas and the issue returned almost immediately. Am using a bottle of Chevron Techron (https://www.amazon.com/Chevron-65740-Techron-Concentrate-Cleaner/dp/B00092893E) with a partial tank of Costco gas starting today and see if that makes a difference.
Went to a Shell and have used over a tank of 87 octane Shell now. So had the issue with Costco and Chevron 87 octane. However, with Shell, I only had one start up so far that had the near stall and it wasn't as bad as with the other fuels.
Thoughts?
This winter I've been experimenting with this issue by using only super unleaded. Since I have been using super unleaded, I have not had this issue rear it's head one time--and this over a approximately 2 month period so for with temps down into the teens F.
If I use Costco or Chevron regular...
Ford brake controller was $170 and the little plastic trim piece that goes around it $139. Good grief. Just went through etrailer.com and got a Tekonsha P3 and associated wiring, etc. to do it. In the 2013 and 2014s the brake controller plug is right behind the dash panel where the radio and...
I pulled a couple of dash panels off and found the brake controller connection behind the panel where the radio/environmental contols are. This is on a 2014 fyi. The 2013 and 2014s are a little different than earlier and later models. If I am correct about this, earlier models did not have the...
Do you have a 2014?
That's the same aftermarket controller I was looking at. It looks like etrailer has an adapter where one end plugs into the factory 4 pin connection, has a connection to hook up the factory brake controller line that's already there, and then this all runs to a combo...
BTW, I have the factory 4 flat pin at the rear and attached to that wiring is a blunt end blue wire that says
brake controller on it, so it would appear that there's a brake controller line already run up to the front.
This part was about $170 I believe at fordparts.com and the dealer quoted me $358 to install. What possibly should cost me approx. $190 for installation?
How difficult is it to install one of these factory units?
AND, does anyone have experience with good aftermarket units vs. the factory...
Believe it or not, the dealer wants $3550 not including tax, to do the work. Not worth it. Will go check their numbers tomorrow, but what are they doing...installing a whole new wiring harness? They quoted me $358 just to intall the factory electronic brake controller. The 'super engine cooling'...
Acc'd to the chart from the 2014 Ford Expedition Trailer Towing Selector brochure, it looks like the heavy duty flashers' are standard.

Alright, did some searching under 2014 Ford Expeditions at fordparts.com. They call some of the parts 'super engine cooling...'
HD Radiator: 8005(RAD-47)
Aux tranny cooler: 7A095
Brake controller: 2C006
HD flashers: still checking on this one...any ideas?
OK. Where can I find the part numbers for this effort?
HD Radiator:
Aux tranny cooler:
Brake controller:
HD flashers:
I think I can pick up the mod for the wiring harness from etrailer pretty easy.
Could sure use some help here, guys. Dealer parts folks are not too impressive in saying they...
Thanks, I've got my dealer working on getting me an estimate now, but I'm not sure they can/will do it all? Has anyone done this through a dealer before?
I'd like to have all OEM parts so that it truly does have the factory HD tow package. The parts that I know of include the HD radiator, aux...
