Hi Folks - long time no post. lol
So I picked up my 2003 2wd EB with about 140k in 2019. Decent shape. I was good about doing the fluids and the truck seemed to run well.
Fast forward to 2023 - I decided to have a friend/mechanic change my plugs and coils. I now have 166K, so not a bunch of...
I can almost swear that I had the same codes for my former 2001 Expedition - I replaced the hose that connects to the rear of the throttle body and it fixed the codes.
Dick
I believe I read the '03 models were a good year for that generation - no phasers. Other than that not much to offer, but have it looked over by a mechanic if possible, or at least put a scan tool on it to see if they cleared any codes and need to drive more miles.
It's a used vehicle with a...
I had the same problem, 5.4 2003. I recall at the time the passenger footwell was buzzing, but thought it was a loose battery connection. It was and I was on my way to work.
There is a thread somewhere here about the fuse panel needing replacement and that 'almost' fixed all of my issues. After...
I'll look at that also. I did not see an option in setup to turn it off.
I know I have a couple of small electrical gremlins I'm not too worried about:
1- I press the lock button and the driver's door (only) pops back up; and,
2- When I turn on the headlights I have to turn the rheostat up to...
I'll try that in a minute. I also called AutoZone for what could be involved and they mentioned I can mute in the dash buttons. I'll give that a shot in a minute,
Thanks,
lol, they block my 'other' name for Richard (think Nixon - tricky whatever)
Hey folks,
I have a 2003 5.4 EB and after I take the key out of the ignition the chime stays on. No big deal, usually just turn it to KOEO (key on engine off) and take out and the chime stops. Today the chime refuses to turn off.
I'm concerned the battery could die (maybe?) if I don't drive it...
I think this was posted by hamfisted here a while back.
I also have a cruise control issue. I did go through the self-diagnostic test, and the last button does not give the required 'blink'. This is after replacing with Motorcraft switches and trying a used (from salvage yard) control servo in...
Chemical guys have some great products. I've used their leather cleaner, leather conditioner and waterless wash items. Really good stuff. They also have products to restore plastic like you are describing. And, hey, if you're not happy with it just get a refund from Amazon - they even will pay...
Good idea. I'll usually use a shop for a small job to see how they handle the customer first. I looked in SD for an NTB (National Tire and Battery) but does not look like they are there. I do my own brake jobs - rotor replacements, but their pricing for oil change/semi-synthetic cost it's easier...
Some independent shops needing the business will allow parts to be brought in, if not a DYI'er.
For some jobs I can't tackle I have an indy that prefers I bring the parts in. The Detroit Axle parts do have a 10 year warranty.
I used Detroit Axle brand via Amazon. A friend who is in chain supply management mentioned the brake components (rotors etc) are manufactured by a few companies - usually in China. Maybe not 100% accurate, but see the next article.
Ford OEM parts sourced from China... worth reading...
Sooo,
I recall a 'flat spot' on a car's starter from many years ago (drop in voltage I believe), so I spent all of three minutes to pop the two plastic Philips screws out pushed the cover out of the way of the wiper motor and knocked on the motor a few times with a socket head. Voila. Motor now...
I neglected to focus on the rear wiper not working and not the fluid necessarily. It rarely freezes here. When the rear wiper works the fluid works. Otherwise it's been non-op for a week.
I'm looking for my manual, any heads up on where to start?
Yes the front wipers and washer work all the...
Hello all,
2003 EB, 5.4 2wd, about 153K miles.
My rear wiper, rear hatch window fluid function seems to come and go. It'll work one week then go out for a while, then come back.
I was trying to search for the right posts to see if this question was asked (I'm sure it has been) but did not...
This post reminds me of a task at hand and is overdue. First can't offer any advice on the plate cover.
We have some perps that like to steal license plates of cars 'in good standing' and they place their bad plate on your truck. You typically get pulled over on a felony type stop, guns drawn...
I have not seen this for the expedition but on other makes/models of cars.
I've seen boots that 'seal' the well for the spark plug.
Not the best example, but something like this. Do they exist for these expys?
Thanks,
Dick
I've been please very much buying Motorcraft parts - except the steering wheel controls.
I've placed MC new ones in, but still no go on cruise control. Self diagnostic fails at the last button. I've already tried to swap out the servo, no go. All cable are good.
I'm glad you found the...
I had to buy mine from the Ford dealer. Obviously helps keep the rattle down. I need to buy some of the cylindrical shaped ones too.
Call your local dealer. I think the bag cost maybe $12 and had half dozen or so. Took a couple days for them to get in stock though.
I think they call them...
The DPFE was the last thing that corrected my stalling.
I feel good still to have all new cables, solid terminals, new battery and and well used SJB.
Appreciate the update.
Not sure if this helps. I went though several issues on my '03. Finally sorted out 99% of them. You'll get there too. I feel the truck now is cross-country worthy without a doubt.
Some good news is the IMRC appears to be relatively inexpensive.
I've had this issue for a while but have not bothered with it. Just hit the reset button after startup to see MPG, miles, trip etc.
I do however want to spend a few dollars and install some new backup sensors to get that function working. It's never worked since I bought it last year.
My .02 cents based on Yupster's comment.
When I had 2 Porsche 928's, I called a supplier to get upgraded rotors, brakes and pads. He simply asked me if I can lock up the brakes or if there was any fade. I told him no. He said you're fine, you don't need an upgrade - I was not tracking these...
I had a quick question. Never sorted it out from months ago but it would be nice to sort out.
Cruise control does not hold speed. I went through the self diagnostic test that was recommended here a while back.
On the self dx test, the last button does not give me the confirmation blink I...
