I have an ajar warning when i am working on it but that is because I have the drivers door open. That shouldn't be a problem. I will have to get back to this one in a minute. I am currently trying to figure out how to get the ac compressor out. If it ain't one thing with this truck it is another.
My rear wiper does not work. I get no power back at the motor. I have tested the fuses it calls for under the hood, number 103 and get over 10 volts there and number 15 under the dash and I can't seem to get a reading there. Problem with that though is that when I plug the fuse back in after...
I will have to find some time to look at these different options. I would think if the cats were shot, that there would be a code for sure.
Startup is just fine. Turns over and starts right up. Idles at about 700 - 800 rpm once it warms up.
Gas smell truly seems to be contained to the exhaust...
I am getting a raw gas smell from my exhaust at all times. It is there when warming up and when up to temperature. There are no codes popping up. I don't smell it coming through the vents when the A/C or heater are going. It is a 2001 EB 4x4 5.4L. Any ideas on things to check? I have a code...
Ok, so I have figured out the horn situation. It has a TSB for it. They say it should take an hour. My guess is it will take me three hours at some point.
Got the pedals moved all the way forward. I think I will just have buy new pedals at some point if I want them to work. I think the gears inside the housings are stripped out some.
Discovered a new fun problem though. I wondered why when I doubled locked the door with the key fob that the horn...
The seat is now fixed. I added a little bit of lithium grease to the track which seems to help some. I also discovered that for some reason if the seat is completely lowered using the down button then it won't move forward past a certain point. If you raise the seat a 1/4" to a 1/2" inch it...
Alright so a little update with this project. The driver side headlight was missing an adjuster screw and wouldn't sit right so I replaced the housing and everything is all good. The power mirrors now work after a switch replacement. The headlights work again. It wasn't the main light switch or...
Ok, so the 4x4 switch checked out fine but I also tested that yesterday. Tested it again to be safe. I tested the main light switch and it has no resistance value on the dimmer. Then I fiddled with it again and it did have a resistance value on the dimmer. I got fed up with it and threw it back...
Thank you for the diagrams. I have tested everything and am a little confused by something. The last test for the panel lamp dimmer circuit is failing. I can not get a reading at all when I have the voltmeter on pins 1 and 6. Now this may be my problem on why the dimmer is blowing when I use the...
It may have been in an accident but it probably wasn't reported. It was just old and not well maintained. At this point, I have figured out it is just a transmission issue. So that will be quite expensive. The rest is probably just a lot of motors that need to be replaced. Slowly but surely, it...
Well here is an interesting find. I pulled every fuse in the junction box while having the multi meter hooked up to fuse #18. Nothing made the 9V of power go away. However a couple made it become a negative nine volts and one or two made it become like 15V. However the most interesting thing was...
I have a problem where when I change the 4x4 mode of my vehicle the the #18 fuse in the junction box blows. That fuse controls the back light of the dash. I have tested the fuse port with volt meter while having the main light switch in the on and off position. When the main light switch is off...
You are right, I should burn the manual. It is fuse number 6 that turned off the headlights. However, fuse #18 inside the truck was still getting power and was surging all the way to 23V when fuse #6 from the hood was pulled.
When the main light switch is in the off state, fuse 18 is receiving 9.3V of power. I know from looking at the wiring diagram in my Chilton manual that the 4x4 switch and the dash light are on the same line. It doesn't seem to blow any other fuses though. The power door locks and window switches...
It is the 5A fuse #18 in the fuse box that is under the dash. It is for the illuminated dash. It only controls the back light on the dashboard though. All other lights and signals work. Turn signals will still work, check engine light comes on if there is an error, 4x4 light works, washer fluid...
Ok, I put the switch back in but pulled fuse 18 so I didn't blow it again as I messed with the switch. For some reason I can put my switch into four positions. If I turn it left past the A4WD, it puts the truck into 4L. You can hear the motor move everything in the transfer case into place. You...
Ok, knowing to use pins 2 and 3 made all the difference. The switch checks out fine.
Still doesn't explain why the dash backlight fuse pops when I turn the switch and why I don't have the 4x4 light illuminated on the dash when I am in 4H. At least I know one thing works.
I can't get a resistance reading from the switch in any setting. I can get a beep telling me there is continuity in one setting but when I switch the meter to tell me the resistance, there is no reading. So I guess this means the switch is bad but could it be bad because the one setting is...
So here is a little update. Don't know if it would help diagnose it at all. I went and tested the voltages I was getting at my 4x4 selector switch. From what I had read, you should get about 1V for 4L, 2V for 4H, and 3V for A4WD. That is not at all what I am getting.
I believe this should be...
Hello all. I'm hoping I have come to the right place. I bought a new to me 2001 Expedition Eddie Bauer a few days ago. I knew it would have problems going into it but now I am getting in a little over my head. So I will start at the beginning and go from there.
I got the vehicle home from the...
I'm sure there are more issues that I don't even know about. That is just where I am starting. I'm thinking the drive ability issue is the most important though.
