Decision Dilemma: Keeping or Parting Ways with Our 2019 Expedition Max – Seeking Insight and Opinions

As a Ford person my entire life, I say stay with the Toyota, lose this thing. I think your wife is on the right track with the Sequoia, you can find many gently used for less than 80 grand. I own a 99 since new. Unfortunately Fords quality and engineering went down hill big time! I will not buy...

    Rusted body mount

Clean it up as best you can. Then use Por-15 to keep rust at bay or Blaster rust control

Is a 2001 Expedition the right truck for us?

Hitch and harness set up, beefed up transmission with a cooler. I think that was it, suspension seems beef up in the rear as well. Sorry I didn’t respond sooner.

    Ticking /Tapping/Knocking 97 expedition 5.4l 2v

I realize this might not be the answer, but that last time I had the noice you are describing it was coming from a leak on the passenger side manifold. Repair it tapping sound gone. Sounded almost like a bad lifter. Good luck sir!

    Jeep Grand Wagoneer

I agree with Gordan. I love 99 Expy, but the new ones don’t seam to have any character (just personal taste), plus I would never purchase one without a V8 wish they offered it. The GM’s are nice, but a dime a dozen. I’m going to check out this Jeep when it comes on the market, I think it’s a winner!

2001 XLT Replacing OEM (Alpine) 6 CD Remote Changer with...modern?

I replaced my OEM in my 99 with a pioneer NEX unit, fits it perfectly. Looks factory installed. Have all the modern convinces is great, sound quality is assume. I saved the OEM stuff in case the next owner wants stock. Good luck.

Is a 2001 Expedition the right truck for us?

I would go for it! I’ve had my 99 since new, minor usual maintenance. It’s been good to me. I tow about 9000 lbs. no problem. 110,000. Miles. I have the AWD 5.4 with towing package. Good luck.

I think your correct, the 5.4 had issues.

    Stupid Crappy Underbody Protection!

They are all like that, problem is if you don’t rinse it very well all the salt and road dirt will start rotten your Expy away. Rocker panels on these things have always been an issue as well.

Another engine noise post, sorry guys

I agree, exhaust manifold leak. Been there done that, that is also a known issue on these.

    window problems

I had that happen on my drivers side. I was told by a bodyshop guy not to bother with a re glue, they never hold. Purchased new window with track assembled. It wasn’t expensive and have not had an issue since.

    Need help!

Bad coil pack, been there done that. Each plug has its own. Also they do not like to get wet. Good luck!

What Is Pulling Power From Battery

Its definitely the alternator, had the same problem on my 99, there is a diode on the alternator that can go bad or be defective even in a rebuilt. Disconnect the alternator overnight and I'm sure you will see no drain. When that diode goes bad it will destroy a battery overnight. Good luck.

    Tune Up - 1998 Exped XLT 4WD

My money is on the coils, you may need to replace one or a few more. They do not like to get wet.

    Doom light.

Could be the rear window latch, that would cause this problem. Spray that down with WD40. Otherwise pull the panel and check it out. Good luck!

Do you trust your first gen?

I Absolutely trust mine! 116,000. and going strong. I trust this more than any of the newer ones. Just maintain it and stay a head of the rust.

Wife says “...you should buy a new truck...”

I agree with you, I have a 99 in pristine condition in and out 115,000. That truck has character, rides beautiful. I wouldn't give that up for a new one! I'm pretty upset with Ford for taking the choice of a V8 out of the equation. Good luck to you

Brothers and sisters buying 4 New 2019 Ford Expeditions and looking for advice

Do some research on that turbo 6 cylinder engine first. Not sure if the jury’s in on that one yet. Best of luck!

can I get an opinion on something?

I read somewhere that it shouldn’t be done, can’t remeber the reasons, but it was something about strain on the drivetrain or front end and suspension.
