2004 Ford Expedition - Best Recommendations to improve night time driving

I'd have to agree on the factory lights in bith our 03 being pretty bright assuming housings are in good shape and aimed properly I have no issues seeing 1/4 mile up the county road that heads to our house, snow visibility has also never been an issue, even with the insane amount of deer that...

    P0171 and P0174 Bank 1 & 2 lean

There were cheaper options available but I spent about $135 on it, the model i purchased had adjustable volume and extra fittings for a variety of uses. There were several under $100. We do the majority of work on our vehicles so for me it justified the expense as it's something I'll...

How many miles is too many for buying used?

I purchased an 03 with 205k almost 4 years ago. It's at 251k and change now. It's been one of the most reliable vehicles I've owned. Only bested by my regal that was bought with 73k old lady miles. I've done the basic maintenance. Fluids, oil, brakes, tires. The only failures I've...

    Finally got my Expo

The rear actuator for the heat, assuming your hand fits is accessible by removing the tray on the passenger side back there and squeezing in. If you can get it into the upper vent mode just simply unplug the power and it'll stay put. Both our expy and navigator are this way and have been for...

    Starter Motor Average Life Span???

250k on my 03 and original as far as I know with rather thorough maintenance records. Now the u joint on the front drive shaft is another story. It bit the dust yesterday, fortunately didn't cause any other damage, failed just enough to make a good racket but the drive shaft is still attached...

2003 Rear HVAC control knobs replacement direction’s

It's not that it's difficult to remove but it takes a decent amount of time and to replace a light that will make a near 0 impact it's more effort than I'd certainly want to invest. In the pics we had disassembled it to more easily run wiring for the radio and such. I installed a knockout...

2003 Rear HVAC control knobs replacement direction’s

If that's the only problem I'd personally leave it alone. It's a fair amount of disassembly for something more or less trivial. In the entire time we've owned both our trucks we've never had them on floor for the rear. The overall temp is much more controllable with the roof vents and each...

2006 Eddie Bauer - New Stereo with Backup Camera

I have had backup cams on every vehicle I've owned for about 10 years and no one has ever tried to steal one. First thing, it's wired into the car, second they're cheap and of little resale value so risk/reward/time combination is fairly poor. My experience is they're going after the radio...

Can anyone tell me how to get door entry code for my 2002 gen 1 expedition without going to main agent thanks

The keypad could just be dead, these trucks are getting pretty old. Without having a known working pad it's just guessing what has failed. I managed to find a near mint condition one to replace the dented one on the wife's Navigator a a local u pull it uard for about $15. Winter is on us but...

2003 Rear HVAC control knobs replacement direction’s

It doesn't just pop off, the center console liner has to be disassembled to get at that. I've never looked into those but I would be willing to bet those are a surface mount led for the lights as opposed to a normal bulb.

    P0171 and P0174 Bank 1 & 2 lean

I removed the vacuum hose from brake booster and used the cone fitting on the smoke machine to get a good seal. The smoke machine was powered from the vehicle battery.

Odd tire? Really on a new 2022 Exp!

If it were the same diameter as the other tires I probably wouldn't fuss but off the top of my head that tire is probably a couple inches taller than the existing. 4wd may not be too happy about that. Granted we have a 03's but my spares are the correct size on our navigator and expedition.

    Duralast or Motorcraft front calipers?

When I replaced claipers last year I didn't use Motorcraft due to lack of availability in the time frame I needed them. I used the powerstop remans and have been pleased so far. Coming up on about 13k of use with them and just about a year of service. No issues. Mine were installed on a...

Ac refrigerant and lubricant for 2003 lincoln nav

Yes, and yes to the questions but for what it's worth if a shop that is doing the work needs help from you I'd go to a different place before they cause more problems. I get you are in the UK but resources for most auto shops are quite extensive and that should be easily obtained by anyone...

2006 Eddie Bauer - Add back up camera and new screen

The 7600 is in our 03 Navigator. I will double check dimensions but I'd think it'd fit unless it would obscure the air vents on the sides, the navigator has vents above the radio. There is a printable paper template you can cut out that is the exact size of the screen if you download a PDF...

2006 Eddie Bauer - Add back up camera and new screen

Welcome to the site. I have an 03, so same body as yours. I have the license plate mount camera and its barely visible. I have a thread somewhere on here with a slew of pics from my stereo upgrade and camera install in the summer of 2019. I couldn't see theft being a big thing as they are...

Alpine Halo iLX-F511 Floating Screen Installed on 2008 King Ranch

How are you liking the Alpine so far? A buddy of mine picked up a Transit and this is on the list among a couple others. He's converting to a mobile office and wants as much connectivity/ease of use as possible.

Time to replace rear air suspension.

My thoughts as well, speaking from someone who is working on a navigator air suspension right now. If you had no air at all your back end would be resting virtually on the tires and beat you to death on the road at any speed above 5mph. If you don't get the error eliminator thing....forget...

    PO171 & PO174 both banks lean 08 5.4 L

I had this problem and same set of codes on my 03 5.4 just a couple week ago. The vacuum tree coming off the PCV valve had an elbow that was essentially rotten and more or less dissolved if you so much as brushed against it. I had a cyl 3 misfire with mine though this was directly above that...

    Rattle trap

The heat shield on our navigators cat was loose and rattled like crazy at Idle. Sounded terrible. If that's loose it's pretty obvious once you stick your head under there. It'll move freely

Tire size and rating for '22 limited w/ HD Tow?

It sounded like he was getting these for free so $, isn't an issue I assume. I'm really confused by the free tires only if you have a brand new vehicle thing. I couldn't imagine my employer being hey work for me for great deals and I'll save you a set of tires I'd you drop 75k on a new truck...

    P0171 and P0174 Bank 1 & 2 lean

Tree replaced, leak and codes gone. Definitely worth the 59, it's made well and likely will outlast the vehicle based on the original making it almost 20 years and 244k. That rear hose with the 90* bend in it was a pita however. The hose clamp was rotated toward the firewall and with such...

    P0171 and P0174 Bank 1 & 2 lean

Smoke machine arrived this afternoon, it made VERY short work of finding the leak. I'm pretty sure it took longer to unbox. Is that line part of a larger set, a quick google shows a couple different options. smoke was pouring out of the underside of the elbow. A couple tight wraps of...
