    Vibration while braking

You should ask them to first take a lateral run out reading of all 4 rotors. This could still be coming from the front rotors. They will easily determine which one is causing the issue. Then they will remove the rotor and check the hub. this could simply be rust build up on the hub face or a...

Help!! Dealership doesn’t know what’s wrong

I don’t think you should pay for a new engine now. Take it to a real mechanic for proper diagnostics. They will charge you 2-3 hours for diagnostics but can know exactly why it has low compression. I doubt it is a burnt valve or broken piston since it is very unlikely to happen in two cylinders...

    Battery question

The reason they don’t put it back is because it disintegrates upon removal. Mine is flaking badly and I don’t think I can reinstall it when I replace the battery. Now, is it important?? I think so. It is a heat insulator to protect the battery from under the hood temperature spikes.

2018 Ford Expedition Platinum Transmission Oil Level

Don’t waste time and money on fluid analysis. At this mileage you need to: - drop the pan and valve body and change the square pump seal. - change the bulkhead connector. - perhaps most importantly, change the cooler lines. There are some reported cases of cooler lines snapping at the quick...

Decision Dilemma: Keeping or Parting Ways with Our 2019 Expedition Max – Seeking Insight and Opinions

I would keep it and save the $$. This gen of Ecoboost is great after the cam phaser update. I prefer it to newer ones since it doesn’t have the EGR system. The 10 speed may fail again in 40k miles if you got the old version of the CDF drum. For longevity consider shifting manually, using sport...

    2019 Turbo lag?

It seems to me like a throttle body issue if the engine doesn’t rev up.

    rear differential locked

I guess they require 4.0-5.0 oz of XL-3 friction modifier in my 2018. It was mentioned in the specifications page of the rear diff!

2018 XLT feels like it's pulsing while driving

I have the pulsing while towing. Occurs only on throttle so I assume it is in the driveline. Even with the smallest U-Haul trailer I still get this pulsing! It only started around 55k miles!

    Coolant system cleaners

Do you see any debris or rust in the system?? These new coolants are pretty good in keeping the system clean. I even stopped doing flushes since I have difficulties getting all the distilled/tap water out and getting the correct coolant mix ratio. Now I just drain and refill with new coolant...

Are these symptoms of the CDF drum isue?

I think this event could be the valve body issue mentioned in the same TSB. If the drum fails, it will let you know. This is physical damage that will manifest itself all the time.

Are these symptoms of the CDF drum isue?

Yes, this is bad programming in my opinion. Why is shifting to 5th at 25 mph. If you give it enough throttle the shift will be later and much smoother.

    CSP 23B62 - 2023 Expedition built 7-20-2023 to 8-16-2023; 2023 Navigator built 7-20-2023 to 8-9-2023; With 3.5L Engine - Engine Long Block Replacement

Yeah, with a lift, pulling the body is max a 2 hr job, but many of the steps have to be done for engine replacement anyways (disconnecting coolant lines, ac, electrical connectors). So it may add one more hour but save 5-6 hrs on the engine replacement itself. Plus you avoid the scratches from...

Keep trying with Ford and let us how it goes. A transmission from Ford was around $3500 couple of month ago (haven’t checked lately). I assume labor will be $1500 at independent transmission shops. if you are around Chicago, go to BSG Automotive. The owner is a very popular YouTuber and will...

Buying used 4th gen, possible problems like transmission, rear and front end, cam phasers

After browsing the forum for the past several years, it seems the worst problems are the cam phasers and CDF + valve body failures on the 10 speed. Updated parts are available for these two issues but each problem is $3000+ to repair. The suspension seems solid except for the shock absorbers...

    Flushing brake fluid

The shop manual (last accessed in 2020) specifies using a pressure bleeder. No mention of other special tools/procedures. Note the following: 1- using the pressure bleeder apply 207-345 kPa (30-50 psi) to the brake system. 2- start with rear passenger wheel, rear driver, front passenger, then...

    2018 Exp Max

The buzzing is a classic IWE bearing/hub failure, assuming you have 4wd. This should be fixed without further delay. For the inconsistent idle, it may be due to old spark plugs that need replacement, but there are many other possible causes. There are multiple sensors on the intake that get...
