HawkX66... Do they stick out any wider than the stock ones when pulled in. We have a set of clip on mirrors but I don't really like them that well. Wife drives the Expedition and sometimes parking spots are a little tight. She doesn't want those type of super wide mirrors when not towing.
Took it on a short trip (about 15 miles) around the block. Never had a connect/disconnect issue. The resistance for the controller must have needed a lower resistance.
When I checked my magnets, I was getting around 3.2 ohms per magnet. Total resistance with all 4 magnets in parallel was...
I believe I have found an solution. I wired it up according to this suggestion found on an F-150 website.
Apparently, this issue happens to F-150's also.
I did what this guy did and sure enough, my trailer is detected. Happy guy here.
The vehicle detects a trailer is connected through the...
Still having issues. If I set the controller with "Electric over Hydraulic", the connection issues don't rear its ugly head.
Ironically, I hooked up my flatbed trailer and not a single connect/disconnect issue.
I am at a loss.
Update on my issue. After trying to understand how the tow vehicle knows when a trailer is or is not connected and no clear direction I was able to find, I spoke to a local trailer shop.
Was told the resistance through the brakes is how the tow vehicle detects a trailer. Anytime the...

I did dig through the wiring a little. As usual with RV's, it is a rats next of...
If I slide the emergency switch while it says "Trailer disconnected", my brakes work on the trailer. I know that for a fact. If I need to, I can rewire the brakes if you guys think that will fix it, it is not a big deal.
Shane,
Thanks for the reply!
Connections look solid. I am going to reconnect each connection and see if it works.
The part that drives me nuts is when it says “trailer disconnected” everything works. Brakes, lights, etc.
Going to keep digging.
Thanks again!
Back to the drawing board. Still doing it. All connections, to the best of my knowledge, are good. Still getting connect and then disconnect. Everything works including brakes. The ding ding ding drives me nuts.
Anyone willing to offer any assistance?
I recently picked up a 23 foot expandable trailer to take my family to Florida this winter. The cost savings alone with a camp site vs. a hotel will pay for the trailer and fuel since we are going to end up in the Florida Keys.
I have a 16' flat bed trailer that doesn't have this issue, so I...
