So.....This is a preliminary update.
Transmission is still under warranty. Took it to the local dealer and got the runaround. I would go as far as to say that they were somewhat hostile and accusatory. They tried to spin it on me and accuse me of doing unnecessary work and, as a result, the...
Hello All
Am in the middle of my first Transmission Fluid / Filter change on my 2024 Expedition Timberline. Has 30,000 Miles. So I drop the transmission pan and there is a random bolt in my pan (see picture). Obviously jiggled loose from someewhere during the initial 30,000 miles...
Hello All
Looking for the correct answer. I have a 2024 Expy Timberline with 30,000 miles. Looking to do fluid change on front and rear differentals and transfer case. The specific question that I have is about the rear differental which is an eLSD in my trim.
I purchased 75W85 gear lube...
I had a problem with overheating and it has recurred episodically in this forum. I posted on this specific issue previously. https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/2020-expy-overheating-at-highway-speeds.55007/#post-505673. I found the problem to be a faulty thermostat.

I had a similar problem and I posted a thread on this recently (https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/2020-expy-overheating-at-highway-speeds.55007/). The original thermostat part number for the 2020 Expy is HL3Z-8575-AA and apparently, this part has problems with sticking resulting in...
I ran it with the heaters on in the front and back until it was up to temp so that the thermostat would open. About 5 minutes on the highway would ususally do the trick. This would allow everything to circulate and mix well in all areas where the coolant runs.
As far as the vacuum...
The part number for the new thermostat was HL3Z-8575-B. A youtube video that I found in the internet is https://youtu.be/S0Kabry6I3M?si=3lGwi_vKNYOg-Qa6. You have to remove the air intake to get access. Whole thing takes about 15-30 minutes.

The scan tool that I have does not have a battery. It is made by BlueDriver and I am sure it gets its power from the OBD port. After you plug the device in, it is supposed to get power from the vehicle and then you can use bluetooth to connect to a phone or other device, open up an app and...
Let me explain better. Normally, when you plug the scan tool in, a blue light comes on indicating there is power to the tool. Then you connect to bluetooth on your device and you can scan the engine or analyze certatin data parameters that are monitored. When I plug my scan tool in, sometimes...
Good point. Only a moderate amount of cloudiness. No rust. Because I am retired and have a ton of time on my hands, I decided to do it anyway becasue I was servicing everything else on my truck including brakejob, brake flush, differential fluids (front and rear), transfer case, transmission...
Hello. Looking for some direction. I have a BlueDriver Scan tool that works in my OBD2 port only intermittently in my 2020 Expy. I have tried everything. Works about 50 percent of the time. No rhyme or reason as to what makes it work or not work. I tried the same scan tool in several...
Are coolant system cleaners needed when flushing coolant system? Are they bad for the gaskets in and around the system? Is it better to do a flush with distilled water until clean, drain the system and then replace new antifreeze?
This is probably a silly question to all but I have been having trouble sourcing a good and reliable reference for the fluid specs for my vehicle. For example, for my 2020 Expedition has 60K miles and I want to change the following:
- front differential
- transfer case
- rear differential
-...
LokiWolf. Thanks so much for your response. Most of us DIY hacks really appreciate your wisdom on this platform.
Regarding my drain lines for my RXP dual cannister setup, I dropped one line from each of the two cannisters and brought them into the driver side front wheel well and put on two...
Thanks for your input. Any experience with Team RXP twin can systems or have you heaard anything either way about this product? I put this sytem on my 2020 expedition. I think it works OK but if you installed it according to the instructions, it was very difficult to drain the cans because...
Sorry for the late response. Somehow, I do not get alerts whenever someone responds.
Regarding the temp showing up on the display, it shows up automoatically whenever the temp gets over 228F. When the temp drops below that number, the digital portion of the temp display goes away. I have...
Look at a thread that I posted last week. I just went thru the same issue. In my situation, it was a sticky thermostat. That is probably the most common cause of this issue.

So. I have a 2020 Expedition Platinum Max with 60K miles. No trailer tow package. Over the past 2 weeks, I noted some mild overheating when driving highway speeds. The temperature would appear above the Cold/Hot water temp guage as shown below.
Never noticed this before. Hooked up a...
Thanks for the help 07Navi. Here is the followup.
I went for the quick fix. I looked underneath the truck and the oil sender unit was tucked way up there in a precarious location. Weather was crappy and snowing. I did not have any place to do work on my vehicle that was out of the elements...
