Perhaps the Ford dealership was incorrect. That's what they told me. They said the chains were stretched to the point the tensioners could no longer tension them enough to keep the timing consistent. Just got my 2018 through CarMax and got the service plan and you can choose your deductible ($0 to $350 I believe) and mileage level. The price was reasonable for the combo I chose - 4yrs 125K for $1250 and I rolled it into the purchase price - added about $14 per month.- dutchd1

The 5.4 suffers from timing chain stretch as well. Just had to get rid of my 2013 Exp (It had 178k) as both timing chains had stretched so bad It was knocking quite a bit trying to adjust but couldn’t. New potential owner here, twin boys, baby girl due in a week
Loved my 2011 Expedition and now my 2018 Expedition I just picked up last Friday. Definitely great for kids! I have 4 daughters (18, 15, 12, and 2) and the Expedition has been GREAT. Hi all, Just traded in my 2011 Expedition EL Limited 4WD for a 2018 Expedition MAX Limited 4WD this past Friday. Updated SYNC to 3.4 on Saturday. Love this ride so far. Looking forward to making some APIM mods and performance mods in the future. Love the forum!- dutchd1

Yes. I actually did a Master reset twice. Once after the update and then again when I noticed this "feature." But I think it may be intended behavior? I replied to my own post a few minutes ago. Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk- dutchd1

So it looks like I may have answered my own question this AM. I should have been more patient yesterday and waited until night. This appears to be the behavior for SYNC display brightness control: - Manual display brightness adjustments are disabled when the vehicle detects it is "daytime"...- dutchd1
