    CCD vs. no CCD?

My experience in test driving multiple levels of Expedition (XLT non CCD, Limited non CCD) now in the Plat with CCD, the CCD makes a big difference on the lower impacts / lower load conditions. I felt the non CCD expeditions had more of a F150 feel to it - solid on impacts, but definitely meant...

    Silt Trap

The low horizontal part line that goes from the side of the rear bumper cover to the moulding around the hitch I find houses a lot of dirt. I can never get dirt to stop falling out of the area.

Yeah, just checked my 19, and it has LED's.

    Longest Service contest.

With your length of issues, it's totally justified to forget about Ford in your next purchase. Unfortunately, you just have to purchase a vehicle with the features you need, and it could very well point back to the Expedition. My no-no brand is anything Stellantis. My JGC in the past was a big...

I'm curious on the in-person coloring. Looks a bit red in color. I'm a sucker for saddle brown.

Side Mirror Puddle Lights Recommendation, Easy Upgrade

I feel the same way with the license plate lights. Actually parked next to two other expeditions. We all had ours on remote start, and they commented how nice LED white license plate lights look on mine in comparison to the dull yellow.

    Stranded again.

Agreed - I love how Toyota / Honda still used old dash clock displays and shifters - the interior could be mistaken from 15 years ago. You get the reliability at the cost of modernization. Always putting new design / tech in a car will lead to some reliability issues.

    ADS/CCD to Conventional Struts

on parts.ford.com, they list the CCD front/rear shocks at $412.36, and standard at $125 front /$155 rear. If you just need to replace one, it won't be too much of a difference to get a replacement CCD shock then to replace the pair on the axle, which i expect at minimum you need to change out...

    3rd row speaker options

Not sure which audio system you have - I have been pretty happy shifting the sound of the BO system to the rear in the sound fader settings. The kids were watching a show on the IPAD and forgot their headphones.

    Stranded again.

Overall, later years should be more reliable, minus new tech added within the model lifecycle.

Expedition as Long Trip Road Vehicle

Definitely resale and if you do decide to get a camper or a larger boat. Never thought I'd be a boat guy, but now with 3 young kids, 2 into mountain biking and skiing, I find myself looking at new wake boats for the summer.

Expedition as Long Trip Road Vehicle

HD Tow Captains 2nd if you have only 2 kids, and pass thru for dogs. Max if you have larger dogs that you want some bed space for them. It's a great ride - I'd do CCD personally, but this is a forum debate on it's characteristics in certain road conditions.

    Stranded again.

Cars tend to be an emotional purchase on top of pure practicality. When the car fails more than one would think reasonable, you get upset. You also lose a bit of loyalty - might as well try the competition. If a car treats you well, it's very hard to break from the brand. Ultimately, every...

    Replacement windshield

+1 on the OE window. The more you get away from the OE glass, the less controls are in place at the manufacturing and install side. I've seen so many aftermarket windshields where the more you look off center, the more distortion you see (waves, shifts in visuals). I had to get my windshield...

    AWD Mode

You get more a slip /delay in Normal 4A vs. the more aggressive drive modes. Normal will try to use more the rear drive to save parasitic losses in normal driving. Overall, still quite responsive and faster than the older slip detection technology.

    AWD Mode

I would expect the car would protect itself in driving at higher speeds in G/S/S mode. I'm sure most people will set it to get out of their neighborhood, then not think to switch it back to a normal setting on the highway. In my '16 explorer, once I hit 50+, the 4WD power distribution screen...

    2020 Expedition Platinum Headlights

bring your expy to a dealer, and see if you can compare to a vehicle on the lot at night. haven't seen many outages of the front LED Headlights. i suspect either you guys are used to the light, and it doesn't look as bright, or maybe you can see one of the LEDs in front dim/out looking thru...

Yes to eLSD or No to eLSD on our next Expedition

oh man you bring back memories: love the pictures! The crap i got into with my 97 expedition 5.4 4x4 with the 3.73 LSD. The bumpers were all metal along with a beefy brush guard, begging it to be slammed into any accumulation of snow I could find. I remember getting out of it thru the rear...
