    larger size tires

Here's a video of someone installing rear coil spacers and adjusting the torsion bar for increased lift in the front: https://youtu.be/amn_Rm35Spg?si=ZmnrtEdRwrNV3lYk

    01 body lift questions!

I installed the 3” BL on my 97 Expy, and it took me an entire weekend. Body bolts were difficult to get off so spent quite some time on that. There are a lot of steps, but you can do it with help of friend. I ran 35” MTs and they only slightly rubbed at full turn. It would be easier to crank...

    Options for rear tire carrier?

Here’s a link to a video of custom fabbed front & rear bumpers and sliders for a Gen 2 Expedition, by CBI Offroad several years ago. They mostly do bumpers for Toys and Lexus Link to video https://youtu.be/Ww6UNeV1ioA

What year Expedition did you source those seats and center console?

    Fog light conversion

Have you got me beneath your truck or pulled the bumper to see if you have connections for the fog lights? Fog lights were an option on the XLT and the connections may already be there. You may simply need to open up the cutouts and add dog lights. Fortunately, my 97 XLT came with them

Yup, my diff is 3L73 = Limited Slip 3.73 gears

    Suspension upgrades

This is an old thread, but I'm also looking at the 5100s. There's a REAR 5100 shock for a 3" lifted 97-02 Expedition, but it's specified for RWD coil sprung suspensions. I know the front shocks on a 4WD and RWD are different, but is the rear the same? Also, there is FRONT 5100 for a 0-2"...

Another (slow) Build Thread...My 1997 Expedition XLT

I haven't really been able to do much to the Expy, as some ass-hat stole my tools from behind the driver's seat. Toolbox had all my extensions, breaker bar, torque wrench, set of 1/2" deep sockets, 1/2" and two 3/4" ratchets and various key sockets and other stuff - I was planning another trip...

    brake pedal loose during turn

I installed my 3" body lift on my Expy, and although it requires a lot of work aside from adding the pucks - lowering radiator, adding steering extension, gas filler extension, transmission shifter extension, and bumper brackets - I seem to recall installing a relocation bracket for the brake...

    Rear diff covers and oil

I saw looking into a Mag-Tec diff cover for the rear axle, and came across video on the Banks Ram-Air Differential Cover. Here's the video: It shows you what goes on inside the differential when using one of the aftermarket covers. After seeing this, I will just stick with the OE cover

    My MOAB Bucket list build..

I got some new recovery - everything in your pic except for the snatch block. I'll be getting a winch in the future, but need other stuff like rock sliders, tires, gears, and a True Trac for the front (maybe the rear as well)

    295/70/17 on stock rims

Did you see this thread: https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/can-you-fit-35-tall-tires-on-your-1st-gen.46589/ He's running 35s (assuming 315/70/17) on stock EB wheels

Can you fit 35" tall tires on your 1st Gen?

You do mention "mild" lift, but your Expy looks great. I have a 3" BL and fit 35s. What rock slider did you use - is it a custom fab or did you purchase one for another vehicle and cut to fit?

Another (slow) Build Thread...My 1997 Expedition XLT

Craig - Thanks for the offer. I try to do as much of my own work, but have taken my other vehicles (87 Jeep YJ, 2010 Jeep JK, and 82 K5 Blazer) to local shops (Azusa) for gears and locker installs - seems a bit out of my mechanical league. As for wheeling, I'm trying to join one of the Dirt...

Another (slow) Build Thread...My 1997 Expedition XLT

Yes, it's the actuator motor - I bought a Dorman replacement, but still haven't installed it as I need to remove the center console to get to it. Haven't had the time. It's not my daily driver, so I don't have any urgency. I will probably also flush out the heater core, just for good measure, as...

2001 XLT Replacing OEM (Alpine) 6 CD Remote Changer with...modern?

I did read that you want to keep the head unit - maybe consider one of those bluetooth interfaces that connects to the charger/lighter. I ended up replacing the OEM factory radio (same as yours) with a double din Pioneer head unit - I got rid of the 6-disc changer and can connect via bluetooth...

    Oil Filter Housing Gasket

It's never leaked before, but I suspect that it's been a slow leak for some time now. It is 20+ years-old, so I'm gonna bet the seals have just worn.

    Oil Filter Housing Gasket

On one of my recent drips to Lake Tahoe to visit my parents, I noticed that I have an oil leak - it seemed to be just a few drips. After returning back to SoCal after a week's time, I checked my oil and it was low by 1/5 quartz. Checking under the Expy, it seems that the oil leak is coming...

    window problems

I know someone that works for Safelite Auto Glass, who used some of their adhesive to glue down the window to the track. We prepped the bottom of the window, cleaned out the track, and added adhesive. After 3 days, I tried lowering window and it came off track again! The guide is probably broken

Roof Rails! Will any other years/models fit 2000 XLT

I failed to note that the brackets I changed to, were sourced from the junk yard. It may be cheaper to buy the whole cross member with brackets attached, rather than individual brackets
