Likely these are all custom ordered units and not dealer stock. The dealer (and the customer) don't want extra miles added to their rig they've been waiting months to take delivery on...
The lower the trim level and the less options you have will increase your payload. Somewhere on this forum is a spreadsheet members with their payload numbers and their trim level + options...
The part of the video where they are scanning parts in a bin looks like their prototype department. There's 3D printers in the background and it's not right on the assembly line. Around the 5min mark is when you see workers installing components going down the line. There's no scanning going on...
Not sure if the Timberline includes it as part of the base spec, but on other trims the Heavy Duty Tow Pkg. gets you the 2-speed transfer case. 4L can be handy in some applications, especially boat launches.
I was at the Portland Autoshow this last weekend and every Ford had a window sticker that said if you took a test drive you got a $1500 voucher and could combine that with their $1000 rebate on custom orders. I read the fine print and I think it said you could also combine those incentives with...
Front and rear face lift and new dash. New model (Timberline).
Prices are close to new or even more than new on used ones you'll find on dealer lots because if you order new you'll be waiting awhile. If you can wait, go new. If not, then be prepared to pay a premium for a used vehicle that is...
When I talked to my dealer about custom ordering an Expedition, he said that any incentives available when the order is placed or when the order is delivered would apply.
Your options are to go aftermarket (Katzkin) or buy the OEM seat covers in Sandstone or Black through your dealer and do an R&R job. You might be able to get decent money for the green interior on E-Bay or something like that.
As others have already stated, you will not get a Timberline built...
Here's a pretty good video showing the root cause of the wastegate rattle. Seems to me a poor material selection by the turbo manufacturer. The pin on the wastegate rod is much harder than the actuator arm. If it was the other way around, you could just remove the double nut clamp, one of the...
Nice! Thanks for the update! With the side bolster wings on the Rodi-fix boosters, is your 6.5yo able to sit between them comfortably? I noticed those wings on the Graco Rightguide and figured they would pose a problem. Thanks for the confirmation.
Outside of being a Ford employee, I don't think anyone has seen it in person. I think these pictures are the best everyone has to go with, right now.

Just noticed Costco has build and price for 2022 Expedition - MSRP and Invoice price listed. https://www.costcoauto.com/new_cars/buildvehicle.aspx?trimid=424367
Seems to match the order guide from what I've noticed. Even has the inexplicable omission of Tow Pkg. on XLT MAX.
Could be Ford is getting ready to update their site with the build for the 2022... Right now if I click on build for a 2021, it doesn't work and just takes me to the overall site map.
I wonder what they will use for the underpinning? Honda hasn't built a full-size SUV, since their only pickup (Ridgeline) is a uni-body construction. I don't think there's enough production volume in the FS SUV space to justify designing a chassis exclusively for that market. When a company can...
From everything I’ve read, there won’t be a Sequoia “Max.” Sharing the same frame as the Tundra doesn’t allow it enough wheel base to add another 12”+ of cargo space.
I’d buy a Sequoia Max in a heartbeat, but since it’s not happening, it’s Suburban or Expedition Max and my wife scratched the...
This is good information - thanks! Do you know anything about the FX4 package suspension? I was thinking I read somewhere it came with heavier duty suspension? Right now my local dealer has an XLT Max 4x4 w/ FX4 package that I'm going to take a look at later today. Also - no pano sunroof. I do...
Somewhere in early 2019 they switched away from the plastic oil pan and drain plug and went to a cast aluminum oil pan with threaded drain plug. I'm not sure of any other changes from 2018 to 2019 as far as the design. I'm sure there were manufacturing quirks on the assembly line that got worked...
Great information! So glad you saw this thread... Currently we have a 2014 Honda Pilot (same platform as the 2011 Pilot you owned) and in the third row it is impossible to put our two backless boosters and a Rodifix. The backless boosters are a Diono Solana and a Britax Parkway SGL w/o back. I...
We have not. Holding out to see the 2022 in person. Honda Pilot is still serving us well, albeit a bit tight in all the rows. Rooftop box gets us the extra cargo space when we really need it.
