Side mirror not locked into position and causing it to fold going down the road

I broke my drive side mirror 2 times and had to replace it twice. Ordered a new mirror, chrome , removed the door panel and replaced it. Has a small dc motor which controls the mirror position. Was easy to replace. You can do it yourself. I think it took me a total of 1.5 hours from start to...

Cleaning throttle body to EGR valve passageway

I did not have any codes but had a loss in power. Replaced the EGR valve and Cleaned the intake manifold as deep as I was able to go without removing it. Full power restored to my ‘98 Expy. Your throttle intake looks bad I would clean it.

    Codes p0174 and p0401

Here’s another video which may be helpful. I would start with checking for a vacuum leak and replacing old hoses. I’ve had this problem on my 98 Expy and thoroughly cleaned the throttle body and intake manifold, there’s already a post on that. Good luck and don’t fret, you’ll get it fixed...

Expy died with no warning and then revived itself. Thoughts?

Sounds like you might have a bad battery. I still have a 1998 Expedition my wife bought brand new in 98, had a similar thing happen to me and it was the battery.

    P0442

It took about two months but I finally fixed mine. I replaced my gas cap (cleaned area around it), replaced purge valve and engine hose and still got the P0442 check engine light. I ordered a smoke test kit from Amazon $80 and performed a smoke test. Sure enough I found smoke leaking from a...

    Rear hatch stuck

Red Hound Auto Compatible with... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A01PC6U?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I had the exact same problem. Tail gate would not open. And the rear window would not open. I crawled back into the truck and removed the interior panel attached to the hatch. It was easy - pop off...

    Is something missing here?

Nope the Evap purge valve is just to the right of those 4 holes. I can see the 4 holes in your pict.

    Is something missing here?

See the attached picture of my 98 Expy engine area. There are 4 screw holes but no part. Every engine picture I’ve seen doesn’t have anything bolted to this spot. Does anyone know what would go here?

Has anyone experienced a rattle at the catalytic converters?

I had the same rattle like noise but found it came from a loose oxygen sensor. Actually both were loose. I tightened them up and rattle disappeared. You need a special socket to tighten the O2 sensors.

    Gear Ratios

You most likely already tried this but if not; turn off overdrive and / or turn to A4WD. Be safe.

crank no start (-------) on the odometer and pats code 16

Sounds like a bad battery or corroded battery cables. If you are measuring 11.9 volts or less then your battery needs to be replaced. A bad battery will throw all kinds of codes on Fords.

    Fancy!

My wife bought our 1998 expy brand new in 98. We are the only owners, it has 206,000 miles on it and we plan to keep it forever. Everything on it works, she is easy to maintain, as I do all the work on it myself. It is roomy, comfortable, handles well, (especially with new tires and shocks)...

    2001 Expedition Cruise Control

I had 3 broken wires on the clockspring connector. I replaced the clockspring (connectors are hard wired to it) and now have a fully working cruise control. It sounds like you may have a broken wire between your clockspring and servo amplifier. Hope you were able to fix it.

Cruise control fixed on 1998 Ford Expedition

I’ve been following the cruise control threads and finally fixed mine. I followed the electrical diagnostics at the 10 pin connector at the servo amplifier. All pins tested out with power or ohms except for pins 5, 6 which were open (not connected). This told me the problem was either in the...

2011 Lack of power and acceleration

The exact same thing happened to me and my 1998 Expedition. Fully tuned up, no codes but no power. My mechanic (an old timer) and I figured it out. It was a dirty EGR intake manifold. Need to go deep into the manifold and clean it. Ran like it was brand need afterwards. There are YouTube...
