Is something missing here?

See the attached picture of my 98 Expy engine area. There are 4 screw holes but no part. Every engine picture I’ve seen doesn’t have anything bolted to this spot. Does anyone know what would go here?

I think my 01 has the evaporative system purge control valve and test port located there. EDIT BUT SO DO YOU>>>

Nope the Evap purge valve is just to the right of those 4 holes. I can see the 4 holes in your pict.

I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer and nothing their either.

Probably a relief for something mounted in the dash.. I’ll let you know.. I’m replacing a heater core soon lol
