I always set my parking brake every time I park. I developed the habit after all of my old Fords (1959 models) would back themselves out of my driveway every now and again. Good habit to have.
My problem was similar. I didn't have a leak, but one of the PLASTIC "Y" heater hose connectors blew out while I was driving on the freeway. Fortunately, I was less than a mile from my house and was able to limp home. If I had been making a long cross-country trip when this happened, it would...
We live in Amarillo. We get snow sometimes. We sometimes have to share the road with people who shouldn't be driving at all, especially in the snow. Our 2019 Limited has AWD. We won't drive a vehicle without it.
I also find it inconvenient sometimes to have to press the brake pedal to start the engine. On those occasions, I just use the remote start feature on my key fob.
Welcome to the forum. We also upgraded to a 2019 Expy from our 2006 model. I would strongly recommend skipping the 2017 model and opt for a 2018 or newer. The 4th Gen Expys are a whole new beast. New frame, new suspension, new body panels, new dashboard, new electronics, etc. Look for a Gen 4...
The electrical system in modern vehicles is well-engineered and very elaborate. The weakest link in that complicated system is the battery. If one is having ANY issues with their electrical system, the first visit should be to a reputable place that specializes in batteries. I recommend Battery...
As a good rule-of-thumb, ALWAYS replace the filter when changing fluids. This is true for oil, transmission, or whatever. One does not want to circulate nice, new, clean fluid through a dirty filter.
We have been getting all of our tires and tire-related advice from Discount Tire since 2012. If they felt it was safe to repair, they would do so. If not, they have a huge stock of tires and can probably match up just one tire to the rest of your set. We trust them completely.
Hi - If your Expy will jump-start, it's a battery issue. If so, take it to a place that specializes in batteries like Battery Joe, or Batteries and Bulbs.
We are currently driving our fifth vehicle with Michelin Defender MX/2 tires. They're quiet, have good traction, and ride nicely. We strongly recommend them. Side note: Most reputable tire shops will not repair a tire if it's more than six years old. They WILL repair Michelins right up until...
Agreed. I always replace my battery at the first sign of trouble. A dead battery in your driveway is no big deal. A dead battery out on the open road COULD be a disaster.
Although batteries are NOT cheap, I strongly recommend replacing one's battery at the first sign of trouble. Our 2019 Limited wouldn't start the other day. I charged it for a while and then drove it immediately to the battery store (not the dealer). The replacement AGM battery cost $260. It has...
It might be a good idea to check with a place that specializes in transmissions, instead of the dealership. AAmco is the first name that popped into my head.
We change our air filters annually, regardless of mileage. It's really cheap "life insurance" for your engine. Actually, a filthy air filter MIGHT be a good thing. It indicates that it's doing its job. I would increase the change interval though.
I read so many good things about the auto-stop eliminator that we installed one on our 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe also. It took 15 minutes because of the trim removal/reinstall, but it was worth every minute, and every penny. We love it!
Hi New Member - Welcome! We used to live in Mililani. You will find parking your Expy a real challenge no matter where you go. Remember to roll up your windows and lock your doors, even on sunny days (most of the time). You CAN receive a citation for leaving your windows down, even just partway...
Hi Joneser - I love the wireless charging feature on our Expy. I suspect the problem you're dealing with is because your "pencil holder" is missing. It looks like the photo of mine laying on the console for clarity. My charger looks like this when the "pencil holder" is in place. I don't know...
I think PRINTED owner's manuals went the way of the CD players. Our 2019 Expy came with a printed one, but I think it was the last year. I downloaded the whole thing to my Kindle. It's actually easier to use than a printed one. It also fits in the glove box.
