I'm having problems with severe misfires that start while driving in heavy rain.
This has happened a few times in the past and usually dries out after a couple of days. I have applied dielectric grease to all of the coil pack connectors after this most recent event but that didn't seem to correct the problem. Does anyone have any ideas for a course of action or where else to look to correct this problem ???
Right now my code is showing that #'s 6, 7, and 8 are all misfiring and naturally it's running like crap. Haven't pulled the plugs yet to see if water has got into the spark plug cylinders or to check the condition of the plugs but they are fairly new (about 6 months old).
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions or similar experiences I would greatly appreciate the help.

Are the coil packs OEM or aftermarket? I have heard that aftermarket coil packs do not seal the plug hole well enough and water finds its way down there to cause issues. Other than that, I can't think of why rain would be the issue (and it sounds like it is).

im gotta agree on the coils same thing happend to me after playin in some deep water. the sealant on top of the coil will shrink over time and any amount of moisture will cause a miss fire

This is actually a big problem with the Triton motors. I've had water get in and cause a short. It fried my coil pack. My mechanic tells me he always gets a bunch of Tritons in when the rainy season comes... this is the main reason why I am really hesitant to give my engine the power washing it needs.

You can power wash it, but everyone I have talked to told me to eith only get the sides of the valvecovers or pull the coils before I do it, then blow out the spark plug wells with air and let it sit in the sun just to make sure its dry. I'll be doing this soon, and I'll change the spark plugs while I'm at it. I'm thinking about trying to put some sort of grease around the coils to make sure they're water tight so that I won't have to worry about them. I still have to talk to my mechanic buddies to see if the idea is retarded or not. Haha.
