05 hesitates and sputters

it has a 115k and it hesitates from 45 to 55 til it shifts in to overdrive if i cut overdrive off it doesnt do it at all and the check engine light never comes on please help

sounds like the problem I am having with mine (see the shudder thread also on the frontpage). Is yours throwing any codes? Have the coils/plugs been changed recently (around 100K)? That usually fixes the hesitation/sputter problem (but hasnt fixed it in my case).

sometimes they wont set a code. at work we have to put them on the diag tester and test drive watching the powerbalance. if they will act up it shows which cylinder it is on. dont waste a lot of money guessing and throwing parts at it, go to the ford dealership and get a real diagnostic done

Mine is doing the same...engine light comes on for a minute and then goes out...no code detected...guessing a CoP is going out...
