There's plenty of info to be found about these jobs online and you can search the forums.

I don't know that anything has been stickyd but as FREEWAY states these are tasks that can be done without owning a garage or $1,000 in tools.

I'm in the same boat as you, I just hit 107k and need to do all the usual stuff: trans, differentials, xfer case, coolant, brake, and ps fluid. Unfortunately I'm also looking at doing plugs, because I have no way to know if the previous owner replaced the 2-piece original plugs or not.:favorites68:

The plugs are straight froward, I didn't have the removal tool, or any spray when I did it, but I am the original owner. Hope it goes well for ya! Did you find any good threads on the rest of the maintenance?

OP your at 117k? I'm at 118k. Just out of curiosity, is your power steering fluid brown? I need to do a PS flush and coolant flush as well, and probably a diff flush. Did you just purchase your Expedition? The Carfax on mine showed all maintenance done at one dealer from day one, but I'm not 100% sure what all was done. Hopefully I can get the dealer to tell me.

That's what I'm looking at, doing a complete flush after the holidays. I bought mine new, my main concern is the trans. I think the dealer wants 250$ to do it.

Transmission fluid change is easy. You have to unbolt the fluid pan and drain the old fluid. Once drained you can remove the pan and replace the filter. Put it all back together and fill it up through the dipstick. If you want directions check out autozone.com if you register you will have access to some vehicle repair guides. Transmission fluid service is one of them. I did mine about a month ago and it cost me less the $50 for the fluid and filter.

It behooves you to buy one of those large throw away pans to catch all the mess, a roll of paper towels and some Dawn dish washing liquid for when you need to wash the old fluid out of your hair :)

There might be a gasket to replace on the pan. If so you need to clean the surfaces of the metal before you put the new gasket in place.

You need a way to dispose of the old fluid.

On the trans flush, you can pull a line off the trans cooler and redirect it to a bucket, then start the car and it will pump the fluid out, making very little mess. Then you can drop the pan without having 3 gallons of fluid in your face.

Can't do it with the newer trans. It has thermostats that only open when the fluid is hot, so the fluid(old & new) has to be hot to do a flush. Just looking to see if someone found a bypass.

I don't think this works for the new 'uns since the trannys are "sealed" with no dipsticks. I know my 06 Mustang has a "sealed" trans. I forget if my 07 Expy is sealed or not.

It is semi sealed, the dipstick is on the side of the tranny. Not very accessible, you can change the pan fluid at home but no at home flush that I can find.
