The Gen 3B has some of the features (and issues) as Gen 4.
There are dimensional differences, though. I had a 2015 XLT and now have a 2024 Limited. Both were/are non-Max. Wheelbase (+3.5"), overall length (+4"), and overall width (+1.6") are greater with the 2024 vs the 2015, though curb weight is less (-220 lbs).

And, of course, the technology difference between the 2015 and 2024 is huge.

Slow down. Mine will make 25mpg at 58mph. At 85 it makes 17-18mpg.
I get 23-24+ on CC at 63MPH in Normal mode. Probably would get a bit more in ECO mode. Coming back from northern California to SLC with a tailwind I got 28MPG at 68MPH, calculated.
Slow down? I don't understand.

This was part of my point. Relatively flat roads, cruise set, 65 mph, stay out of the turbo and these trucks aren't bad. You could/should get 22-25. I only used eco once and didn't really see much difference. Sport will use more gas, especially if you leave it in 4 Hi Auto. Shift points are higher causing higher RPM's.

The reason I keep both the 2011 and 2017 is A) they are relatively low mile vehicles, 65K and 55K respectively and B) the fact that they do not have Ford's newest technology which is causing so many people so much pain.

Ah Man...I'm so depressed. I wish I was seeing these numbers. Max SPP with tow package, usually with 5 passengers. Town 15mpg, highway @ 70mph 21mpg, and towing a TT 9mpg. I just assumed ford put the fuel efficiency bar as some sort of twisted joke.

With a vehicle this big conditions are king. Going into the wind, up hill, and/or a lot and stop and go are the enemy. Cruising at 70-75 on interstates with no adverse conditions we see right at the rated 22.

I did a 200+ mile trip where we spent about 60 miles running 65-70 and the rest 55-60 and very few stops we averaged 25. For about a 100 mile stretch at the start it averaged 28.

As stated in the many previous posts, there are multiple factors that contribute to overall mileage. Some things that have not been mentioned are rear axle ratio and 4x4 vs 4x2 drivetrains. Our 2017 3.5 T/T 6speed is 4x4 with 3:31 axle ratio. A friend of ours has a 2017 4x2 and across the board gets about 1.5 - 2 mpg more than us under similar conditions. We have another friend with a 3:73 axle ratio that gets about 2 mpg less. So the weight of the 4x4 drivetrain and the axle ratios are also factors.

My Sequoia got 8-10mpg in town and 15-18 highway with 1/2 the horses, gears and towing capacity. The Expedition replaced that rig then my daily 2 cars. My subaru did 18–19 in town and 23-26 on the highway. At 75,000 miles my heavy tow Ex typically does 16-18 in town and most road trips 20-22mpg on 3peak A/T’s on stock 22’s. I’d say they did a good job. Only way to get better would be hybrid electric in the city use.

Reassuring me on my decision, I was down to the Expedition or the Sequoia. Although, I'm pretty sure if I had bought the Sequoia, it would have spent less time in the shop!

Dude, you are doing good. The SPP is actually rated lower.

I
Waited for the new one took one look at the completely useless rear 3rd row and floor it was an instant fail. Bought the EX 5 days later. Friend with a 2014 Sequoia kept the old one bought the new one. After 6mo he sold the new one after 2 months in the shop and not being able to fit kids and gear like his old Sequoia. Basically confirmed my
Decision. No issues with my ex and it can tow my boat. The Sequoia not so much.

I never seen a correct MPG rating for the SPP. Only for the Timberline. But if I compare the MPG rating from the Timberline to what I get from the SPP, I am doing pretty darn good! Also keeping in mind it is winter time now and I am running winter tires, extra wind etc.
One trip I made and got 11.1l/100km like that. Another trip I got 11.8l/100km, but had lot of wind.

My Titan gets 12ish around town. When I drive the Expedition it seems like it hardly uses fuel despite never getting over 20 mpg.

@LokiWolf I'm just being silly, I'm super impressed. The biggest factor is obviously my right foot and my inability to mature past the age of 12.
Love it! Same over here. I am the weird guy. Bought the PowerBoost F150 for the additional power, and well the power(7.2KW to be exact). It is PCM swapped and tuned by ZFG also. Sits on 35's and has a 3.5 Inch lift...MPG really isn't what I concern myself with... ;)

If you’re averaging 19+ in a full-size gas-powered, body on frame SUV you are doing pretty good! Only thing that will do much better is the 3.0 Duramax. Our 23 limited max averages around 18 over its life and we are right at 50k miles on it. Where we live interstate speed limits are 75-80 and the wind blows a lot. At 65 they can make darn good mileage, but not at 80. Laws of physics win the battle.
