I recently purchased a 1998 Expedition and the sub will kick on and off - mostly it just stays off. Does this happen if the sub is blown? How can I check it? Also, I have removed all of the small screws around the sub and cannot pull it out. Is there a clip holding it in place? Thanks for your help.

Usually to test the sub if it is blown, turn on your stereo and if you can get access to the sub, try pushing down in the center of the sub. while the stereo is on if the sub goes on and off when pressing in the middle, usually the voice coil is fried, time to get a new speaker. I would try this first. if thats not the problem try checking the connection.
