When I first crank the truck up and start to drive it , the intake is always loud until second gear kicks in, it drives fine, and shift fine, but cant seem to figure out why its so loud in first gear, intake is tight and I dont see anywhere the intake has a opening in it, anyone know anything about this? uploadfromtaptalk1431051386060.jpg

The fan clutch is what the cooling fan attaches to. It's job is to lock and unlock to control the engine temperature. Quite often when the clutches begin to age, they hang on initial startup and you basically have to accelerate to break them loose.
Also, heat saturation with lock them up after you have been driving and shut the engine down for a few minutes. After you restart the engine and the fan start pulling cool air it will unlock.

I have/had a similar issue with my 98. is it the 5.4? If it is, then check to see if BOTH idler pulleys are installed. Mine did this (and it was fun to listen to during emissions testing), and then I discovered that only one of the pulleys was installed. Without both, the tension on the fan will be off, and hence the noise.

The good news is I drove it for 3 weeks like that without damaging the vehicle...
