2003 EB starter noise

Please help!!! About three times a week, and get a loud eeeeegh noise, when I try to start my EB. It sound like the starter is not fully engaging. The starter is approx. 1.5 hears old, and did not use shims. I don't know if I missed something, when I put it on. I just dropped the bolts, and wiggled it out. I then wiggled the new starter in place, and it starter in.
