2003 Expedition fuel smell and CEL

Just bought a 2003 Expedition. Took it for a test drive in a close to empty tank. All went well. Went back today to pick it up. Ran to gas station and filled tank. Within 10 minutes of driving the CEL came on and a fuel smell started filling interior. Not really a fresh unused smell of fuel though. Can’t really describe it. Anyway the smell is not in the engine compartment at all and seems to be coming from the center, possible rear, of vehicle. No visible leaks. I’ll add that I believe this truck sat for more than a year without being used. 100k miles on engine. Any thoughts??

have you pulled the codes to find out why you have a CEL? My first guess would be something in the Evap system.

The gas fill tube on my 2003 is rusted to high heaven.
