2003 Expy 5.4L - replaced alternator and test drove right after - all good. Next morning, I noticed the engine was surging causing all accessories to go dim and then bright constantly including a/c. The belt appears fine. Could this be a ground or bad tensioner? I'm leaning more towards electrical because what led to the alternator going out was the following: starter fried - replaced, replaced battery, replaced alternator (1st time) - still having to recharge/jump battery because I was running on straight battery; took it to Ford, they followed one of the TSB's and replaced the harness going to the alternator (which fried the new alternator) and reprogrammed the PCM to the latest calibration. Now, I recall reading that the PCM must now "relearn" driving conditions, but I've driven it over 70 miles now under various loads and it's still surging. Your thoughts?
