I have a 2004 that is services regularly. About a week ago it started to misfire during slow acceleration. I don't notice it during aggressive acceleration or just idling.

It has not been tied to rain as the day it started was beautiful with no moisture in the air.

Any thoughts were to look be would be great.

In the past 5 days I have had to replace 3 coils and plugs to the tune of $700. This is all due to skipping and misfire under light acceleration and the eventually ALL form of acceleration. I know I am paying to much but I cant do it right now as I am about to start 12hr shifts at VW chattanooga tomorrow and need my cars ready to go! Thing is I still got 5 more original ones to go. Ford tech says they become brittle and when they check for the bad ones they sometimes foul up the other ones.Hmmm. I said well Dont F anymore of em!! good luck

I had the same problem at 50 - 65 mph driving at a steady pace. Since there was no "check engine light" on Autozone or any of the cheezy pepboys type of places couldn't diagnose the problem (It was a Sunday in San Diego and I had to go home that day) I ended up taking my Expy to a Mexican guy in Imperial beach at his house and he figured it out within an hour!! He was a cab driver in Tijuana for 20 years then moved to Imperial Beach. This guy had me sorted out within a couple of hours and he flushed my radiator and put new coolant in for $200.00 total and sent me home to Phoenix. Amazing what a guy at his home garage could do in a couple of hours what Sears and Pepboys coudn't do at all. He was super cool and he cleaned my radiator overflow tank as well. My bad coil was in the back of the engine block on the passenger side. The cause was a small leak in my heater hose that leaked onto the coil itself. He showed me the rust/corrosion in the wire connectors. i wish he lived here in Phoenix.

I also have the same problem at 45-55 mph at 1,500 rpms. So I just accelerate faster to 2,000-2,500 rpms & I don't get the misfire. I know it uses more gas but isn't that better than misfiring?

They have been talking about coils on ebay. One member suggested buying the 10 pack (for the V-10) so you have some extra coils. They say they have worked fine with no problems. You can get 8 of them on ebay for like $85.00 I might pick up a pack and put it my box of spares for when I go chasing down in Baja. I think it would always be a good idea to have a spare coil in the truck. Plus, I plan on having the Edge CTS so when one goes bad I know which one to attack first. I'm rambling.
