2007 5.4 3V

Does anyone know what years of motors will swap into a 2007 Expy, plug and play or even just have to put components from my current motor onto the donor motor? I'm sure I could put any motor in I desire, but I don't want to be making a bunch of unnecessary mods just to get the motor to run and not have everything in the truck work as it should. I find it hard to believe that only a 2007 and 2008 are the only years that will go in... I'm looking for an inexpensive motor to have on hand that I can update and have ready when the current motor finally decides to crap the bed.

Aside from plugs and coils, all of the 3V 5.4 are pretty much the same. There was a difference in phasers somewhere, not sure the exact year(s) that they changed, but if you're swapping a whole new engine in, shouldn't be an issue. The reason you're probably seeing just 2007, 8 years as compatible is likely the plugs. Those are engine specific, not vehicle. Just remember if you put an '09-'14 engine in to replace with year specific plugs/coils. SP509 are the plugs for the post '08 engines...
