I have a 2007 Expedition Eddie Bauer, 26,000 miles, no real towing hours on it, save a couple trips with a 600 pound 12' boat. Here's the problem:
When the Expy sits in the garage for two days or more, after I start the engine cold and shift into reverse, I do not get the normal solid driveline hookup (the thunk factor if you know what I mean). Instead, it feels sluggish almost like a slipping tranny, or like the torque converter has leached fluid. After a few seconds of motoring (20 or 30 feet), it seems to solidify. Then if I shift out of gear and back in, I get a solid hook up and no slipping feel. Does the same thing in drive, again only after two or more days sitting cold.
Anyone experienced this with theirs or have any ideas? I don't think this is normal, but with the new six speed tranny, I guess anything is possible. I called the local Ford dealer service department, but they don't seem too interested if it is not a constant condition that they can evaluate. I appreciate your thoughts.
